The Life and Books of J.K. Rowling - Page Text Content

S: JK Rowling

FC: My Life

This book is dedicated to Di, my sister, and Miss Shepherd, the only teacher I ever told about my writing.

This is me, as a baby

This is my sister. I couldn't find any pictures of her as a child. This is important to me because the first memory I have is of her being born, and because she would always encourage me when I wrote.

This is "The Wind in the Willows" by Kenneth Graham. I have it here because when I was about 4 and had the measles, my Dad read this to me and I don't remember feeling sick at all-I just remember lying there hearing the wonderful stories.

This, of course, is a picture of a book. I put it here because my parents loved reading.

You may recognize these people from the "Harry Potter" movie, they are the driver and conductor of the Knight bus. I put them here because they are named after my grandparents, one of which was the owner of a supermarket, and the other, a bit of a dreamer.

I put these animals here because as a child, I had (in this order) a dog, 2 guinea pigs, one other dog I had until I went to university, and as a teenager, I had tropical fish.

I put these pictures here because they were the two places I lived as a child; in Chipping Sodbury, and after that a cottage near a church.

I put these pictures here because Professor Snape from Harry Potter was honestly quite a bit like the first teacher i ever had.

I put this picture of a teacher here to represent my Secondary School English teacher, Miss Shepherd, who was the only teacher I ever tod about my writing.

I put this picture of a Ford Anglia here because as a teen, I lived in a small village and was quite bored, but I had a friend named Sean who owned one of these and it spelled freedom for me. This image was very important to me when i lost my mother, also.

I put these pictures of a train and Harry Potter here because i first thought of him on a train. This is how it happened: I had been in Manchester looking for a house near my boyfriend's, and on the train, a wonderful idea sprang into my head: Harry Potter. On that ride, I also discovered Ron, Nearly Headless Nick, Hagrid, and Peeves.

I put this logo here because while I was writing the Harry Potter books, I had a job working for the Manchester Chamber of Commerce.

This is a picture of my first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone. (Known as the Sorcerer's Stone in America) I put it here because when it was published I had a great BURST of publicity.

I put this enormous 1,400 here because that's how many books I signed on my tour for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in Boston, Massachusetts.

I put these words in Japanese, Spanish, and Italian here because they are a few of the languages my books have been translated into.

This picture is meant to represent my daughter, who means the WORLD to me.

I put the pictures on the two previous pages there because I what do, I enjoy meting fans and writing, and I would like to thank my readers, my family, my publisher, the cast and crew for my movies, and Miss Shephard.
