FC: The Quotable Book of Allison
 For our all-grown-up little girl!
"I'll be back in two thirty hours!" -20 months | We believe she meant in about 20 minutes.
"How you are today, momma?" - 22 months
"They are back tobacco!" - 22 months
On one of our many trips up and down the East Coast, when Allison was about two years old, we stopped for lunch along the way at a Dairy Queen. Following lunch, we decided to have ice cream before we continued on our journey. Allison ordered plain vanilla, as was her usual custom. While we were waiting for our ice cream, she was very carefully observing another customer putting butterscotch topping on his dessert. She turned to me and said, very seriously... | "Momma, I don't want mustard on my ice cream!" Needless to say, butterscotch is still not a sauce she cares to eat!
When she was about two years old, I bought Allison a little pair of blue overalls that had a scarecrow embroidered on the bib. We went upstairs and she tried them on to see if they fit. She got into the overalls and immediately ran into my bathroom, stood in front of the full-length mirror and began to sing, "And then I'd sit...and think some more!" and she sat right down on the floor while she was singing.
And then for Christmas when she was about 2, there was "Faloonsum"! This was a vacuum cleaner cover, in the form of a dressed-up cow, that my mother made for me. Allison loved it, wanted to play with it as a doll, and insisted her name was Faloonsum!
Daddy, "Are you gonna be a songwriter when you grow up?" Allison, "I don't know; I haven't decided yet." | Age 3 years
"Momma, the fishy is upside down and he's not moving!" -3 1/2 years | The day the goldfish died.
In the spring that Allison turned 4, she and I went with Frank on a business trip to Tennessee. We took a few extra days and on the way home, we stopped in Gatlinburg. We found ourselves having dinner that night at a local German restaurant. Our waitress was a somewhat elderly woman who was dressed in full German costume. | She took our order, turned it in, and then suddenly appeared on a small stage where she sang some German song to the accompaniment of a small band. | She finished her song and left the stage to polite applause. Allison thought about it for a moment, then turned to me and said, quite loudly, | "She sounds just like Rabbit!"
Allison is looking at the water in the Christmas tree stand. Momma, "What do you make of that?" Allison, "A chicken salad, water changing color sandwich is what you make of that!" Age 4 years
Also, when she was 4 years old, Allison received a 3-ft. tall ballerina doll, which I made myself, and which she insisted had to be named "Allison Delilah"!
Allison, "Do you want some Smarties?" | Madeline, "No, but I'll take a Dum Dum!" | About age 14
"Is your family from Norwegia?" | About aged 15
"How do you make it cake-shaped?" age 16
"Sorta fried chimichanga...what does that even mean?" Age 18 | The menu actually read "Soft or Fried Chimichanga".
"Are you my mahi?" | At The Melting Pot for the annual birthday dinner Age 18
Driving home from a mother-daughter trip to Charlotte before moving back to Alabama, Allison says, "I misread that Cracker Barrel sign. I thought it said "hard-boiled biscuits! How would you even do that?" What it actually said was "hand-rolled biscuits! Age 19
