 About the Author
Emery Shull is a 9th grader at Oxford High School. He enjoys reading, video games, and creating art. When it comes to writing Emery likes to write about anything that comes to his mind, anything that pertains to his imagination, and anything that pertains to pop culture. Emery finds the most challenging part of writing to be coming up with the right words to get his point across and expressing himself through his work. when Emery gets older he wants to become a Multimedia Artist & Animator. His advice for students entering the 9th grade next year is to follow your dreams and no matter how hard the work seems to be, it will all be worth it in the end.
Education | I chose to attend AI Mimi International University of Art and Design because it is a great school, which can tech me all the things I would need for the profession I plan to go into. It is located in Miami, Florida and this is where I will study to be an Multimedia Artist and Animator which is the profession I have chosen to go into.
Profession | THere are many things you have to be able to do as an animator, but the main things would be that. You have to be able to use computer programs effectively for drawing and animating images and video. The annual salary for this job is about $48,00 a year. The only thing that I hope to achieve in this profession is to be the best at what I love to do.
 City Overview
The city I plan to live in is Miami, Florida where the overall population is about 413,892 in 2012. The primary forms of entertainment in this city would be the beach and your basic everywhere kind of entertainment like movie theaters and other things like that. The crime in this city is higher than most places with high numbers of murder, rape, burglary, and auto theft.. Most of the people in this city work with places that have to do with or pertain to the beach.
 Standard Living
I am going to live at the Edison Triplex Communities apartment. The rent for this apartment is 660 dollars a month. In order to move in I will need to pay a 50 dollar deposit. Some features of the apartment are it has a walk in closet, washer and dryer come with it, theres a basketball court, and its pretty close to the college I will be attending. Some other bills that I will have to pay will include garbage which is $30, water which is $50, cable/Internet which is $110, and cellular service which is $50 .
 Household Items
The apartment that I chose came equipped with, cabinets, dish washer, and refrigerator. Therefore I had to purchase a lot of household items including, pots, pans, towels, furniture, utensils, cups, bowls, and everything else. I was able to afford this because of a 2000 dollar investment from my parents and because of what I bought I had over 800 dollars left over to go back into my budget for the month. The majority of these funds was put into savings. Some of my priorities when furnishing my apartment were the furniture and the kitchen items. I was able to afford everything I needed with the exception of the things I did not want.
I was able to afford a car at this point in the project. The car I chose was a 2009 Kia Rio5 SX which you can see on the right. This car costs $10,599. I will need to pay $317.66 a month, the loan term is 36 months, the APR is 5%, the total paid is $11,435.76, and the total interest is $836.76. I chose this car because I really like the car itself plus it has everything I would ever need in transportation, plus it has good gas mileage and a lot of storage space.
 Grocery List
My total grocery bill for this month was $132..34. I purchased items in the following categories beverages $8, food $43, fruit $6, and toiletries $47. A majority of my funds were spent in the food category, because I need that to be able to live as well as the toiletries category because I need to keep good personal hygiene. I believe that this list will be sufficient for me to be able to eat for the whole month. In drafting my grocery list I learned that food is expensive when you buy a lot of it, I also learned that websites will not give you the prices of a lot of different grocery items.
 Entertainment & Miscellaneous Items
After paying all my monthly bills I have $1,525.80 to spend on entertainment and miscellaneous items. I have chosen to set aside $470 of it to spend for the following savings $200, home maintenance $50, vehicle maintenance $50, fast food $40, hair service $20, entertainment $30, and clothing and shoes $130. after making allocations for this section my final budget total is $945.80.
 Budget Reflection
When I first started out I had $2,508 and after paying for all of the things that I had to pay for like, rent, grocery expenses, car payments, furniture, and to be able to fun things. I had a little over 800 dollars left over. This is enough that I had some money to put into savings. I believe that this is enough for me to live by myself and on my own.
