Billy the Bee was gathering nectar for honey when he saw a hummingbird nearby, flying from flower to flower. | One day,
The bird | as a lark | was as happy
So the next day he ran away from his colony. | "I am tired of making honey." | "I wish I could be free like a bird in a tree," Billy thought.
He flew and flew until he was far away from his home. | At first he had lots of fun. He flipped and twirled and laughed as he danced in the wind.
Soon Billy grew hungry and tired. He landed on a bright yellow flower, but there was no sticky nectar coming from it. It was soft and dry.
Then he saw a beautiful bed of flowers, but he was chased away by a bear that wanted to eat him!
"I miss my family," he thought. | Suddenly he saw a strange-looking tree, with strange-looking flowers. | Billy landed on one of the branches.
Suddenly the tree erupted, its branches waving from side to side! | Strange noises were coming from the top of the tree! | Help! A bee! Get away! | Aaahh!
Billy tried to fly away, but the little tree kept chasing him. He was horrified, and flew toward home.
Billy never looked back until he reached home. | Queen Bee had been very worried about him. She and all the other bees were glad to see him.
Billy's mother handed him a fresh bowl of pollen. | As Billy gobbled up the pollen, he finally realized that there was no place like home.
