FC: The Thirteen Colonies | Aj Vargas
1: The puritans left england because they did not want to follow the king's religion choice, the wanted to practice their own. The troubling parts in Massachusetts colony that caused settlers to leave were because the leaders did not want people to question the religions they practiced, and it was also from how the government seemed to have way too much power than others.
2: New England did not fight at the first meet but later on they took more of the Native Americans lad which caused them to start a war between each other. The main reason why the towns and villages seemed important was because the Purtans believed that they should worship their religion together in a community.
3: The King of England, King Charles 2nd gave his brother, the Duke of York the land of New Netherland. Which created New York. During this time the Duke of York's colony of New York was stretched all the way to the Delaware River. The Duke decided to split the the colony in order to govern it better. He had given some of the land to his friends. | His friends were Lord Berkeley and Sir George Carteret. Later then that colony became New Jersey
4: Life in the middle colonies was mainly based off of farming. People grew wheat,barley, rye and also raised cattle and pigs. Their crops were sold at the markets for money. The homes in the middle colony weren't as close as they were in England. They lived in Counties instead of villages.
5: Lord Baltimore whom had owned Maryland at the time. During this time he had decided to start the Act of Tolerance. This allowed Protestants, Catholic, and Christians to have religious freedom. It did not happen for the Jews at that time The Carolinas were founded by some settlers that came from the south of Virgina, but eight nobles had received a grant from the king. Those eight split the Carolinas into two.
6: Georgia was founded by James Oglethorpe, he was a respected English soldier. In the southern colony Tide water plantation was the major crop for them. The plantations were treated by the African American slaves in the 1700s. Most people in the colonies lived in the backcountry. People whom lived in the backcountry didn't have fertile soil like others who had lived on the plantation.
7: In the southern colony, slavery was the main source of money in the 1700s. The plantations in the southern colonies were mainly maintained by the slaves. Most of the Africans were trade and sold for others in order for their masters to gain money.
