3: TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD SETTING: To kill a mockingbird takes place in the 1930's, while in a small town known as Maycomb.

5: UNDERSTANDING SETTING: Understanding setting is vital to reading and learning because in order to fully comprehend what is going on in the story, you must comprehend where they are at and know a full description of where and how the characters are located in the location you're reading.

6: SCOTTSBORO BOYS & EMMIT TILL: The Scottsboro Boys were a young group of African American boys who were accused of brutally raping 2 white women, then later the women admitted that they lied. Emmit Till was a young boy who was falsely accused of flirting with a white woman, then hung and shot by the white woman's husband and friend.

7: SIMILARITIES: I believe some similarities of the story To Kill a Mocking Bird and the real world are all the racism, even though it is not nearly as bad, and the cliques, the lock-ins, the crazy town stories. I believe every town has their stories and in To Kill a Mocking bird that is very well portrayed.
