FC: The Trans Atlantic Slave Trade

African Americans were captured and forced to become slaves. | They were taken aboard a ship and became part of the Trans Atlantic slave trade.

African Americans were bound in chains and pushed and shoved upon this ship to be deported to the US. | They were taken beneath the ship to be packed in literally like sardines.

The stench was so overwhelming that many passed out from the horrific smell. | Men, women and children were stacked in bunks and couldn't move.

Slaves were introduced to new diseases and suffered from malnutrition long before they reached the new world. | The majority of deaths on the voyage occurred during the first couple of weeks and were a result of malnutrition and disease encountered during the forced marches and subsequent interment at slave camps on the coast.

When the ship landed in the America's, most of the slaves had already died from diseases and malnutrition. But the remaining slaves were sold into slavery and forced to work for the American's. Africa lost many of their men, women, and children in the result of the slave trade.
