FC: Differences Between the United States and China

1: I chose to research the differences between the US and China because it will be interesting to learn about how the two countries are different and similar. | Rachael Barnes Elmwood Franklin 5.24.10 | I dedicate this book to Mrs. Colpoys for helping all of us with our many technical difficulties throughout our whole history research project.

2: I am doing the United States vs China and the similarities and differences between the two countries.

3: China and the US are countries that are very powerful, militarily and economically, but they also have many differences that make them very different.

4: Comparing Religions: China | China only recognizes five official religions: Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Catholicism, and Protestantism. | Buddhism is the most widely spread religion throughout China. 5: Comparing Religions: US | In the US, since there are such a wide variety of different ethnicities, many religions are practiced. | The majority of Americans identify themselves as Christians. 6: Comparing Economy: China | China has the 3rd largest economy in the world. It is the fastest major growing economy in the world. China trades with other countries in the same way America does, by manufacturing or acquiring raw materials and shipping them (via air, sea, rail, etc.) to other countries. | http://www.lucylearns.com/images/chinese-money-paper-20-yuan.jpg

7: The US has the worlds largest economy. It is a market-oriented economy. Individuals make their own decisions. The US is also a large exporter. 9: Culture: US | The US is a fairly new country compared to China. American culture encompasses traditions, values, customs, beliefs, values, arts and innovations. Sports is a huge part of American culture. | http://people.eku.edu/pedersonn/mongoliaFire/american-flag.gif

10: Chinese Government | China is run by the communist party. The government gives Chinese people little freedom and no voting rights.

11: US Government | The US has a federal court system based on English common law; each state has its own unique legal system. It is a constitution-based federal republic who is run by a president.
