BC: Anderson Family Vacation March 2011
FC: Our Family Vacation to Florida March20-25, 2011
Mom and Dad invited the whole family to join them on their Florida vacation. We stayed at Bahama Bay Resort for the week in an amazing three bedroom condo. With access to the pool, beach, and hotel restaurant, and having a view of the lake from our patio, this vacation was a little piece of paradise.
After a long drive, relaxing at the resort's pool and beach was the perfect way to unwind.
A grand vacation requires a grand meal...and we had just that. Turkey, dressing, green beans, cranberries... the only thing missing was the pumpkin pie. | The girls loved having time to spend with Uncle Mike and Aunt Krista. | Hey, where did the turkey come from? | Do we have any more gravy?
We're going to Disney World | When Mom announced 'We're going to Disney World' after opening her birthday cards, we all expected to hear shrill screams of excitement from the girls. Instead, we heard...well...nothing. I then clarified that we would be going to Cinderella's Castle and see the princesses, Mickey Mouse, and all their friends. Then we got the reaction we were hoping for...Screams of excitement and lots of YEAHS
Mom was wished 'Happy Birthday' by everyone we met.. including the Mayor of Disney World and his wife. The girls loved riding on the Prince's Carousel and flying through the air on Dumbo.
Its hard to visit Disney and not buy a hat. They are everywhere, and in every style. The girls picked out pink princess hats, and to help Mom look a little more festive for her birthday, we decided that she should have a hat too.
Contessa's First Roller Coaster Ride | Everyone had so much fun riding Thunder Mountain, Its a Small World, and Splash Mountain, but our favorites were Mickey's PhilharMagic 3-D Movie and The Laugh Floor.
We took a few minutes to stop and watch the Celebration Parade. Tess loved waving to all of the characters (as well as counting them...60 in all.) Aria was asleep, during the actual parade, so she watched it on video. | There was something special about watching Tess and Aria watch the Parade... maybe it was the look of pure joy on their faces, or their total excitement. Its hard to say, but it brought tears to our eyes.
When it came time to see who was worthy of King Arthur's sword, Aunt Krista prevailed...and made it look easy...as she pulled the sword from the stone. Tess and Bob found it more challenging.
Our Little Princesses stood in line for more than an hour to meet their favorite princesses: Aurora, Cinderella, and Belle. | Contessa and Ariana were enchanted by meeting the princesses. Aurora and Belle were so friendly, and Aria found that she and Cinderella had losing their shoes in common.
Disney Night Life Daddy, Tess, and Aria partying with Goofy
Cinderella's Castle transformed into a canvas for an amazing light and photo show. The girls loved trying to guess what color it would turn next.
After spending all of Tuesday at Disney, hanging out at the resort was the perfect way to recover. The girls swam, the boys played pool, and in the evening we celebrated Mom's birthday with a repeat of our turkey dinner and cake. But where was the gravy and ice cream? | Contessa lost tooth number 3 while on vacation, and her tooth fairy flew all the way to Florida to collect it. Tess was SO excited. | AAAAHHHH...Its the Tickle Monster | Dad took charge of cutting the cake.
Happy Birthday to You. Happy Birthday to You, Happy Birthday Mom-Sharon-Grandma... Happy Birthday to You. | Its time to cut the cake, but HOW?
Grandma and the girls had so much fun at the pool. While there, she taught Tess how to be a better swimmer and how to dive underwater. | Aria also had a lot of fun at the pool. She became much more confident in the water, and 'swam' across the pool by herself--while wearing her floatie, of course.
Once we told the girls that we were going to Florida for vacation, they immediately began asking questions about what we would see. One of the animals mentioned was the alligator. Aria then wanted to know if it would eat you. I was truthful and said yes, but very seldom do they eat people. From that moment on, Aria was fixated on the fact that 'Alligators eat you.' She told EVERYONE. So, as we were leaving and saw the alligator at the front of the resort, I HAD to have a picture of Aria and the alligator because 'Alligators eat you'
A trip to Florida wouldn't be complete without a day at the beach. The girls were so excited to get to see the ocean, make sand castles, and look for sea shells. | Cocoa Beach
The girls had very different reactions to their first time in the ocean. Aria was apprehensive at first, but finally enjoyed jumping over the waves, while Tessa took the waves head on. She LOVED the water and splashed, jumped, and body surfed all afternoon. | Its hard to says who's smile was bigger, or lasted longer: Mom's or Tessa's. They both smiled all day long. They LOVE the water.
 OHIO Pride.
Tessa summed up leaving our vacation best by saying: 'We had just gotten settled in, and then it was time to leave.' | Vacations always go by too quickly; especially when you're surrounded by family, having lots of fun, and you're soaking up the warm Florida sun.... Here's to hoping for 2012.
