BC: Happy Birthday, Grandpa! I had so much fun getting to know you this year, and I can't wait for all of the fun things we're going to get to do together as I grow up! Love, Michael

1: My Grandpa | By Michael Kenneth Vogtner | My Grandpa turns 64 years old on March 7th! I will be 11 months old on March 7th. I haven't had a birthday yet, but I hear they're pretty special. I may still be 0 years old, but I already know lots about my Grandpa Ken. Mommy and Daddy gave me the middle name "Kenneth" after my Grandpa, because they think he's such a great guy and wanted me to always think about him. I first met Grandpa just a week after I was born. He came out to Colorado Springs, where I live, to visit me, then he came out again in May. It was really fun. He fed me, and changed me and played with me. Then, at the end of July, when I was four months old, I got to go on a really cool trip. I got to visit Grandma and Grandpa and stay at their house, in New Jersey, for a whole week while Mommy had to work. It was so much fun! The first night I got there, Grandpa introduced me to his favorite baseball team, the Yankees from New York City! I watched a game with him while sitting on his lap. I even wore the Yankees t-shirt he bought for me, with Derek Jeter, No. 2, on the back. I think I like baseball. I'll probably play it when I get a little older, but even if I don't, I hope Grandpa takes me to a Yankees game someday. It looks like lots of fun. Grandpa came out to Colorado again in August, and then in September, Mommy, Daddy, Grandpa, Grandma and I all went on vacation together to Hilton Head, South Carolina! When I got there, I saw the ocean for the very first time when Grandpa picked me up and carried me out to the beach. He came to visit me again on Halloween! That time was a great surprise. Mommy told me something about a hurricane that hit N.J. I don't understand that, but it sure was fun to see Grandpa again. We went back to Grandma and Grandpa's house for Christmas! I was baptized at the Hilltop Presbyterian Church in Mendham, where everyone knows my Grandpa, and then we had a really fun Christmas. I got to meet most of my other relatives, but I had the most fun with Grandpa. Even though I've only been around for 11 months, I already know that Grandpa is a really cool guy, and I'm looking forward to some of the really great things we're going to get to do together. Like watch the Yankees. I'm very lucky to have such a great Grandpa, and to get to share part of my name with him. I put together this book to remember the great times we had during our first year together and to share the cool things about him from before I was born!
