Let the Journey Begin.... all bundled in coats, hats, scarves & gloves! On Thursday, December 30, 2010, Bill Hershey, Lyle, Jeane', Marshall and Annika Hershey, Mike, Gail, Karisa, Carter and Kaylie Gingerich and Bob and Nadene Creighton traveled to the Nation's Capital to enjoy the many sights -- The White House, Historical Monuments and the Air & Space Museum. | They traveled in two vehicles to a metro stop in Maryland, where they then hopped on the metro to finish the last leg of the journey to DC. There was lots of excitement coming from the children about riding the metro. They saw many people get on and off throughout the ride. Once everyone was gathered together outside the metro station, the men with the iTouch phones found their current location because the first destination was the White House. However, other monuments were seen along the way and many pictures were also taken.. Even a quick "snack break" was enjoyed by all by the Washington Monument.
Leaving the Metro..... and ready to take on the challenge of navigating through Washington DC!

 The Washington | Monument
A Must See! | The White House
Decisions, Decisions! After viewing the White House, the next decision was upon them.. Where to eat? Thanks to Gail's great memory from her DC trip 20 years ago, she remembered the Old Post Office had a food court. So, away they went!
 Old Post Office
Ahh, food! After much walking, the weary sight-seers finally arrived at the Food Court. They enjoyed hamburgers, hot dogs, fries and gyros .... and many laughs as "political pictures" were taken at a tourist shop. Brave little Kaylie had her picture taken with Sarah Palin.
They rode up the glass sided elevator to the Tower to see more spectacular sites of the city.
Washington Monument | Capitol | Lincoln Memorial | The US Treasury Bldg (the White House located behind)
Time to move on - After enjoying lunch and the view of DC from the Tower, they walked to The Mall. The Air and Space Museum was next on the list.
 * Airplanes * Space Shuttles & Capsules * Historical Information * Videos and so much more! | The crew split up into two groups and had an hour to tour the museum before meeting up again to determine the next action step. | The Air and Space Museum
After they reconvened, everyone decided they were tired and ready to head home. It definitely was a fun-fulled day!
 Great Christmas Memories!!!
