FC: Some useful information for you as our guests | @
"Willkommen" or as we say in Swiss: "Grüezi" Its a real pleasure to have you as our guests ! On the next pages we like to provide you with some useful information to make your stay even more enjoyable
Overlook | Swim / Fish hole | Start nature walk
On the property Our property is 26 acres and you are more than welcome to check it all out. It is all yours to enjoy! You can even cross Barons Creek (you will get your feet wet though) as our property is on both sides of the creek. Please explore walking instead of driving :) There is a wonderful nature walk: Enter the creek bed at the bottom of our own mountain creek, walk upstream a couple hundred yards, you will pass below the "hanging bridge" (our "Overlook"). Walk upstream a couple hundred yards until the banks and the creek come together. Wade across, and about 50 feet upstream, you will see rapids flowing into a natural pool. It's our famous Fish Hole and also a great place to swim. You are welcome to catch and release as many fish as you want. There are plenty of catfish, bass and sunfish. If you don't want to wade back across, you can walk through an opening to the right which will circle back to the cabins. Another great place to see is the Overlook, which is at the end of the road between the Swiss Log Cabins and the Hilltop Chalet. It's a construction much like half of the Golden Gate bridge and is a great place to look for wildlife below in the creek bed.
 The Swiss Log Cabin "GENEVA"
The | The Various Accommodations at Barons CreekSide The Swiss Log Cabins along our "mountain" creek are certainly very special as we shipped the original doors and windows from a 250-year old farmhouse near Lucerne in a container to Fredericksburg. We carefully reassembled vintage logs from Kentucky and Tennessee to recreate Swiss style Log Cabins and used the original Swiss windows and doors and decorated with Swiss antiques. The Hilltop Chalet has two back-to-back cabins "SunRise" and "SunSet", each one completely independent with its own bath and full kitchen. It's great for family and friends as the two cabins have the option of a connecting door. The entire Chalet sleeps 6-8 guests and is pet-friendly. The Mesquite Farmhouse was built in the early 1900's. We met the woman who was actually born there, a very nice older lady, who told us the entire story: It was originally two stories high and all limestone. The house caught fire in the 30's, the top story is gone and the facade has been redone. The inside is still mostly original, and we just added a outdoor Jacuzzi and a dog run. Its the favorite house for our longer stay guests as it has a full kitchen and laundry. The Lodge is our largest house with 2500 sf and three bedrooms. up to 9 guests. It's fantastic for families, friends or large groups and as the main gathering area if you book several cabins or the entire property for your own reunion / event. We can accommodate up to 50 guests at Barons CreekSide with the Lodge then being the "centerpiece".
The cows on the property are also from Switzerland! If you are a bit "artsy-fartsy", you are welcome to paint one of them while staying here
The Barons Log Cabin was built in the 1870's in Kentucky, brought to Texas, and reassembled here on the property 15 years ago as the first and then-only guest house. It has an additional pull-ut sofa and sleeps up to 4 guests. Also, it is pet friendly. The Victorian was once a famous house on Main Street in Fredericksburg where today, the Navajo Grill stands. It was cut up in two pieces and moved to Barons Creekside about ten years ago. It initially served as an art studio, then as a Day Spa, and we have since renovated and restored it to the original house it once was. It sleeps up to 4 guests and is super charming. The Washhouse is used as our laundry, and you are welcome to do your own laundry there (Please check with Housekeeping before using.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ | TV: There is a 60-channel satellite TV in each accommodation. If your TV has only 1 black remote, please make sure that you push BOTH red buttons on. One starts the TV, and the other one the satellite receiver. If you have two remotes in your cabin then use the black sat remote for channels up and down only, and the TV remote for volume control only. No reception ? Make sure that the TV is on channel 3. WiFi: Your computer should automatically find our network. We have several transmitters located at the Lodge, SunRise, Washhouse, and Art School. Our WiFi is free of charge. Its 30 MB so its not fast enough to download movies but fine for emails and surfing
Wildlife: We have a family of super friendly cats that quite often like to visit with you, our guests. If you don't want them around... just tell them to "take a hike", they understand. If you do like them, and one sneaks into the cabin with you...that's fine..we don't take a headcount of our cats at night. We also have several hand-raised ducks (Mallards and Rouen's) that stay here all the time. They are non-flying so they have no chance to escape dogs or children chasing them...got the hint ? Then there is the real wildlife: lots of deers at night, possibly you see an armadillo, red fox, skunks, cougars, beautiful birds, wild turkeys, nasty fire ants and occasionally, a snake (I don't like them myself either) or a scorpion. After all, we are out in the country, so you get it all :) . Oh.... and most seasons: loud mating frogs make great evening concerts.... Please when driving do always stay on the gravel roads/parking spaces as we have irrigations lines all over the property which break when cars run over them. Thought you have seen Barons CreekSide before? This is very well possible as Cabelas and Woolrich shoot their catalog's here and the Cooking Channel and the Weather Channel have shot TV series right here on the property

Party Time: Please respect the other guests on the property. We ask that after 11pm you keep "quite hours" Checking out: We really appreciate you not leaving a mess behind. Please clean your dishes and put the trash in the trash cans which are locates near your cabin. We are a small family operated Resort and are very happy to share our property with you
Please make your children understand: The little "man made" creek between the Swiss Log cabins is very fragile and off limits. Jumping on, moving or throwing rocks in the ponds destroys the liner easily and ruins the creek. Take your kids down into the real Barons Creek where they can do all that as much as they like. Please do not let them climb on the fiberglass cows We have no fenced off areas or signs that say "Do not...", but please be aware we are all about nature and self-responsibility. Pets: Not all guests love pets as much as you do. Please keep anything larger than 20 lbs on a leash and know that our ducks are non-flying, so therefore cannot escape a dog. If your dog likes to swim, please take it down to Barons Creek, and dry them off completely before entering the cabins again. Thank you for "picking up" behind your dog. Absolutely no pets on beds or furnitures. (It would result in a $ 200 cleaning fee) Smoking: You are absolutely free to smoke outside Fire Place: Turn off the AC when you start a fire. Please leave hot ashes in the fireplace. Dont start a fire on the morning of your departureThrowing warm ashes / charcoal on the grass could cause a grass fire and burn down your cabin along with it. Fire wood is stacked near your cabin ($ 1/log donation box)
Medical emergency Call 911 - Our address: 316 Goehmann Lane, mention cabin name and go outside the cabin to flag them down upon arrival The hospital: Turn right on Goehmann Ln. when you leave the property, go across Main St., straight through two more stop lights. Hospital straight ahead. They have a 24-hour emergency room ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ....and a final word: We live about eight months here on the property, the remaining time back in Zug/Switzerland. So I might or might not have a chance to meet you. So let me thank you very much for being our guests, and I truly hope that you leave with very good memories and that we hopefully get to welcome you again at Barons CreekSide Daniel & Deborah and all the Barons CreekSiders P.S.
