This Book is dedicated to everyone and anyone who loves a good scary mystery story.
Cory, Ash, and Laura are walking in the outskirts of their small town trying to find something to do. Cory gets a funny look on his face and squints to see farther when he says, "Hey, guys, what's that big thing over there?" | Cory, Ash, and Mary are walking in the outskirts of their small town trying to find something to do. Cory gets a funny look on his face and squints to see farther when he says, "Hey guys, what's that big thing over there?"
They continue to walk towards it and when they come to it they find that it's an old run down house. It's obvious no one's lived there in a long time. Just as they are going to go in further, Mary stops them and says, "Wait, there's a sign over there that says this is a private property and to keep out."
When Ash hears this, he and Mary back away suggesting they go back, but Cory still wants to go. So when they refuse to go with, he walks away into the house as they leave.
Inside the house, Cory finds the place to be filled with cobwebs. It smells musty and dank. He continues to walk and finds a big on/off switch. on the wall. Since it is getting dark, he switches it on. When nothing happens, he tries again -flipping it back and forth. Still nothing, so he leaves it turned on and heads out of the house.
He leaves the house and heads into town. He realizes that it got dark very fast.
He finds Ash and Mary at the Grab n' Go and asks, "Did you guys notice how dark it is? It never gets dark this early, especially in the summer." They agree with him and because they can only see by the light of the store, they decide to head home and meet up tomorrow.
The next day, they meet at the lake's beach to relax when Ash exclaims," It seems dark out today, but there are no clouds." Everyone looks up and no one finds a single cloud. They all find this to be peculiar.
That night, they are out back by Mary's house when the power flickers and finally goes out. They fumble through the dark until they find a flashlight that barely works. It seems unusually dark out though the moon is shining clear and still not a cloud is to be found blocking the stars.
Cory suggests they go and jump in the lake. No one else wants to, though, so Cory calls them all wimps and takes the flashlight and heads out. They try to call him back, but he doesn't listen.
Cory is out in the woods on the path to the lake. Since it is nighttime, it is hard to keep track of his way, and when the flashlight goes out it becomes even harder. He throws it on the ground. The shadows loom at him, seeming endlessly dark. He becomes lost and ends up off the trail heading deeper in the woods and away from all civilization.
Back in Mary's house, the others become worried about Cory because it's been three hours and he isn't back yet. "Where do you suppose Cory went," asks Mary. "I don't know," replies Ash. Even though they're worried, neither tries to make a move to go looking for him, so they wait until the morning.
As they head out the next day, they stop by Cory's house and ask his parents if Cory came home last night. They say he never came home and with that, Mary and Ash go out looking for him.
They head out on the path Cory took the previous night, noticing that there is only a little amount of light shining that day. After searching the whole day, they can't find a trace of him anywhere. Even though it is getting dark, they decide to go look at the old house Cory went in before.
When they come to it, they feel their skin begin to crawl and they become scared by every looming shadow around them. They don't go in the house, but they search around with no luck, so they head home.
When they try to head home, they realize they stayed out too late with no flashlight to help them see. Even though they've been on that path their whole lives, they head deeper and deeper into the woods thinking if they keep going they'll find their way. The only problem with that theory is that they are heading away from anything or anyone who could help them.
The following day the kids' parents are worried because they haven't seen the kids in a while. So they decide to go look for them. They leave the town and head to the trails, but the people in town never see them again.
After the people in town didn't see them the next day or night, a search party goes out. Soon another search party goes out to find the first search party.
The cycle continues and soon, with it getting darker and darker each day, people go missing all over the place until no one is left to look for them.
Finally, the last traces of any mankind in the town are gone. Houses, street signs, pets, and roads all disappear with no one and nothing eft except the trees and an empty area.
The only remaining building is the beaten down house with everything in it remaining.
Even the switch - turned off.
