The daughter was very lonely and sad. Seeing that she needed a companion Zeus visited the princess. Because Zeus enjoyed his time with the princess, he blessed her with a son.
When the king found out about the son, Perseus, the king was scared. He sent the princess and her son away from the kingdom in a boat.
Eventually the two came ashore in a new country. When they arrived they were greeted by a nice couple who said they would give them shelter and aid. Perseus and his Mother lived happily with the couple for a long time until the King of the country caused them trouble.
The king dared Perseus to behead the Gorgon Medusa, and not wanting to back down from a challenge Perseus accepted. Bidding his mother and the couple goodbye, Perseus set off in his grand adventure to slay the monster Medusa.
When Perseus set out on his quest a few of the gods noticed. SInce he was the son of Zeus, it was their duty to do all they could to protect them. Along the way, the messenger god Hermes and the goddess of wisdom, Athena, came to help.
The two gods gave Perseus magical gifts such as a shield, a sword, flying sandals, and a winged headband. These would protect him and help him defeat Medusa. When he started his journey again, Hermes came along to help Perseus find where Medusa was hiding.
There is something of the marvelous in all things of nature. -Aristotle | Hermes led Perseus to the home of three witches. These witches shared one eye and knew many things about the universe. They were the ones who could tell Perseus where Medusa was. When Perseus went to see them Hermes told him to take their eye so that they would help him to get it back. Once he did that, the three witches told him exactly where to find the monster woman.
After a while, Perseus finds where the Gorgon lives and sees Medusa sleeping. Using his magic gifts, Perseus sneaks up on her and surprise attacks. Perseus defeats the monster snake lady and takes her head as proof for the king.
During his travels home Perseus made a safe journey by using the head of Medusa as protection. Along his way he saved a princess from a horrible fate and killed a terrible monster using the powers of Medusa's head to turn anything into stone.
When he got back to his home and family, Perseus used the head of Medusa to dethrone the evil king. Then he gave the head to his mother to keep her safe while he ruled over the kingdom. She took the head and used it to turn her evil father into stone and finally felt peaceful.
