FC: Haiku Reflections

1: Haiku began in thirteenth-century Japan. Traditional Japanese Haiku is a seventeen syllable poem written in a 5/7/5 syllable count. Often focusing on images from nature, Haiku emphasizes simplicity,,intensity and directness of expression. | Picture taken by Steven

2: Sunrise starts our day. Beginning by Thanking God. Bells ring hourly.

3: Celebrate Freedom! Brilliant color lights up sky. Let's enjoy the night!

4: God's Rays shining down. Streaming through the breaks in clouds. Gives me peaceful thoughts. | Warmth of rays descend. Gives life to the Earth below. Enjoy it's presence.

6: Light breezes blowing. Leaves dance, grass bend at its touch. Magnificent force. | Mighty forceful winds. Trees bend and give into strength. Showing it's power.

7: Soft whisper of breeze, Brings wisps of natures sweet scents. Sightlessly flutters. | Unknown photographer

8: Gentle pitter-pat- Rain falls softly to the ground. New life springs upward!

9: Tulip, Mum, Daisy Petals of showy colors Seasonal Beauties | Indian Paintbrush Large fields pop with Brilliant orange. Short time to enjoy! | My Gram's favorite. In July, wild orange pops. Roadside one or two.

10: Floating on Water Resting on large verdant pads. Fragrant fresh and clean. | Hiding during day. Deep serenade at twilight. Hangs out at shoreline.

11: Graceful white beauty Gently glides across the lake. Delightful to see. | What a nice surprise! Herd of swans appear on lake. Just as quick, take flight.

12: Black bundle of fur. Cubs lumber across the road. Watch out for Mama! | Lodge built in water. Complexly placed logs and twigs. How long did it take?

13: Where did you come from? Skittering from here to there. Quickly zips away. | Vicious state mascot! Black & white stripes take quick peek. Retreat, burrows deep.

14: Fawns show their spring spots. Doe's protective eye watches. White tail darts to woods

15: Dull Springtime colors Help blend into surroundings Watching for danger

16: Prism of color Let us see before you fade Arches through the sky.

17: Morning fog skims lake. Hovers, waiting for sun's warmth. Slowly vanishes

18: Search of hidden gems- Grays, browns, pearly. Each unique. Multi size and shapes.

19: Meditation Spot- Shows us seasons, months, compass Each rock has meaning.

20: Pine trees straight and tall. Bending only to strong winds Branches stretching out.

21: Han | Han | Hanging down from limbs Pine cones of all shapes and size Seed? Decoration? | Stately pines stand proud Humbly towers above us Surrounding our home.

22: Bring me to water. Our adventure will begin. Come on, grab paddles!

23: Tufts of brown at top. Likes to grow in marshy swamp. Very long, straight, stalks. | Cap sits on top. Homely or Adorable? Whichever...delish!

24: Frost covers the ground. Signs of upcoming weather, Prepare for Winter. | Cold days into nights. Winter daylight fades quickly. Predictably cold.!

25: Frigid winter air Ice thickens everyday. Let's walk on the lake.

26: Branches come to life. Verdant buds soaking Springs' life. Unfold their broad leaves. | Leaves Flutter and Sway As they dangle from branches Canopy above.

27: Melt away winter. Warmer weather is coming! New life all around. | Small green shoots push up. Colorful flowers open Warm air, Spring is here! | Springs' light warms the lake Cold ice slowly melts away. Not sad it is gone.

28: Tiny blueberries Pick one-by-one! Fill cups. Gram makes yummy pies.

29: Lengthened daylight hours. Enjoy warmth! Relish sun's rays. Swim, Play, Relax, ahhhh! | Standing on the dock. Ripples shimmer across the lake. Calming! Relieves stress. | Swimming near my dock, Small shadows dart through water. Watching entertains.

30: Orange, Red, Brown, Yellow Changing color, Chill in air. Leaves crunch underfoot. | Formations of V's Whoosh, whoosh is the sound of wings. Flocks of fowl go south.

31: Fall shows it's bareness. Clear view and ease to walk through. Rustle dry foliage.

32: Loons skimming water Diving under, search for food. Where will they come up? | Camouflage your nest. We want to see baby loons. Exciting to find.

33: Majestic Eagle Soaring high in the blue sky. Flight looks effortless.

34: Wings of all sizes Life duties go unnoticed Where will I see you? | Picture taken by Nicole Koski

35: Making home in trees Intricately woven bits. Taking care of young.
