Father, We are stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere in the ocean. I may not know where we are at, but I'm sure you are already on your way to get us, after all, you are very important in the Navy. Plus, I remember how you explained to me a couple of years ago about how the queen has maps of every island that there is. I'm sure I'll be seeing you soon. Ralph p.s. I started a fire for you to see Father, the other boys want us all to never get rescued I swear! I can almost never get through to them how important the fire is and that there IS NO BEASTIE. Maybe I was wrong. Maybe there is a beast. The thought of it scares me. I'm beginning to forget that this isn't the only life there is. Oh and the fire. Its going. Sometimes. I wonder if there really is any hope for rescue though. this island is the only thing that is real there is no hope for rescue and writing this anymore is pointless | 1
Dear Auntie, My, have we certainly gotten ourselves into a lot of trouble. It turns out that we are on an abandoned island. There are quite a few of us; however I am unaware of just how many because when I tried to count us all, the littluns kept running about. My goodness, is it hot here, my asthma sure is bothering me. Sincerely, Your nephew Nathan p.s. they called me Piggy! Dear Auntie, These children have been annoying beyond belief. Well, except for Ralph. He's actually quite reasonable. Oh but | Auntie, this one boy named Jack has been absolutely awful and he is quite a bother. Oh how I miss tea time and your candy shop, Auntie. Love Always, Nathan Dear Auntie, Oh my goodness! Auntie, you would not believe what these silly boys are talking about! Beasts and ghosts! It is absolutely ridiculous! I swear these boys are on the verge of becoming savages. From, Nathan | 2
3 | It all began with Jack and his hunters. They sharpened a stick at both ends, sticking one into the earth and on the other they placed a pig's severed bloody head. "The head is for the beast. It's a gift," (Golding 137) Jack had explained to his hunters. However, little did they know that to a boy by the name of Simon, this represented the beast physically. Simon reported while stumbling upon this gruesome sight when he was suddenly hit with a seizure . | Island News "The Beast"
4 | His memory was very vivid as he recalled that the beast had spoke the following: "You knew, didn't you? I'm part of you? Close, close, close! I'm the reason why it's no go? Why things are what they are?" (Golding 143). So the question remains; who or what is the beast? Is it a wild creature, a severed pig's head, or is it something that lies deep within every person.
Simon | 5 | Simon was born on February 19, 1936 and passed away sometime in May of 1947. He passes away while the other boys on an island tried to protect themselves from some sort of animal. Simon was quite an interesting boy who was a bit odd. He has no surviving relatives, but is described as a "pure soul" by workers at the orphanage at which he spent six years of his life. Simon enjoyed reading and writing poetry. He also enjoyed reading the great quites and wise words of others. It is tragic that he had to leave this world at such a young age; however, he will never be forgotten and will live on in his friend Ralph's heart as"the bearer of truth."
Piggy | 7 | Nathan Smith, better known as Piggy by his friends, passed away in early June of 1947 due to an accident. Nathan was born on November 15, 1935 to his parents Jeffery and Marie Smith. Sadly, his father passed away when he was only 6 years old, and his mother disappeared shortly after. Surviving Nathan is his aunt Victoria Smith, who was always very close to Nathan. Some of Nathan's favorite memories were spent in his aunt's candy shop studying books of the many great minds and logic. This responsible and reasonable boy will be missed by many.
