 ROCKS by Alek Sincerbeaux
I found this rock at the ball game in White Plains, NY. I found it in the dirt while walking by. I had a hard time digging it out,o so I asked my father for help. I think this rock is quartz because it is white and quartz is white. It is one of my favorites from my collection.
This rock is very interesting. It looks like limestone, but I do not think it is because it was nowhere near water. Perhaps the ocean made a wave that caused it to move to that spot many years ago.
Don't think: Look! -Ludwig Wittgenstein | I found this rock at the baseball game. It was near the trees. There is mica in it. Mica are little sparkly pieces of rock. I wonder what makes mica sparkle.. Some of it is just plain and looks rough. It also has a mixture of brown, red and green in it. It is a sedimentary rock because it has layers.
This rock looks similar to the one from the previous page. It is quite small as you can see. It fits in my hand. I like this rock because it has a very interesting color. Like the other one, this is a sedimentary rock also. I do not know where it came from though.
Rocks come in all kinds of shapes, sizes and colors. No two rocks are the same. There is something special about each of them.
I like collecting rocks because they are beautiful. I look for rocks everywhere I go. I am also going for my first mining adventure soon. I think it's going to be fun. I can't wait!
Rocks are a very important part of our lives. If there were no rocks we wouldn't exist. Our planet Earth is made of rocks. So if there were no rocks... there would be no Earth!
