S: SUMMER AFTERNOONS 2011
FC: SUMMER AFTERNOONS 2011
In the summer of 2011 we began the practice o going out along the country roads at first just to get out of the house. The, especially when we brought Cara Beth along, we began to take these beautiful photographs of the country north and west of Lexington.
The horses come to greet us... | ...they know Cara Beth brings carrots. | And so does Mary Ann. | ...and there is always grass...
Cara Beth collects creatures and the camera collects view | John George, the famous donkey. | A small, but friendly horse.
Homes vary in levels of luxury
Barns are necessary and also vary in excellence
Implements also vary... | from mechanical to grindstones and kettles.. | ...and even ancient water pumps.
Most luxuriant of all is, of course ZANZIBAR!
To the east the country becomes more rugged and still beautiful.
Elaborate wrought iron gates open to roads that lead to fine farms. | The grate in the road keeps horses from straying, and the stone fence guards the road.
An afternoon drive led to the Waveland mansion and grounds.
