BC: The life story of Yoana Sameh Valentina

FC: Cloudy

1: To: Someone and Someone I hope you enjoy many happy years with Cloudy! God bless you and keep you! With Love, Someone

2: The story started with our neighbor Wayne buying a paint mare at a sale barn. At first he thought she was just a really healthy (or fat!) horse... but little did he know, she was pregnant instead! Soon, the time came for her to foal. Wayne was heading to work on May 12th when he got the phone call. It was his daughter calling to say he had a new addition to his horse herd... A paint filly! Unfortunately but not, the filly soon got a bad rash from a weed in the field he had them in. So he brought them down to our pasture, which is where I first met her. Of course, no girl like me could resist at least getting to know her or name her. After much coaxing and talking gently, she would eat grass from my hands! I was so excited that I ran into the house and told everyone! This was the begining of a long road we would travel togather. At that time I had been reading the book 'Golden Cloud' by Leland Silliman. I had been trying to figure out a name for her, and the name Cloudy just fit perfect! We eventually decided on a whole name though. We picked Yoana Sameh Valentina, which has several special meanings: Yoana means God's gift; Sameh means Forgiver; Valentina means Brave. Still, I had to remember she was not mine to keep. I always had the thought lingering in my mind, 'Don't get too attached!' But I loved her anyway. One sad day, our neighbor came and took Cloudy and her mom away. I was devastated, until I heard that she was just going to a petting zoo for a little time. What I didn't realize was that he wouldn't be able to bring her back for quite a while. I still held out hope that "my" little horse would come home. Each day I would hope that maybe, just maybe she would come today! But slowly I began to forget about her.

3: Christmas came and I stayed over at my Grandma's house to help her prepare for Christmas day. Little did I know that everyone in my family knew something I did not! It was a fun day spending time with family and sharing good food. After we had our Christmas celebration and visited for the day, Dad said it was time for us to go. When we got home Dad said, "Abi come on out with me for a little walk, I want to talk with you." So we went out into the crisp cold night. The moon and stars shone brightly over head, lighting our path. As we walked, Daddy asked me, "So, did you have a good Christmas?" "Yeah, it was fun," I answered, puzzled a bit at what he was trying to get out of me. "Well, Christmas is not over for you yet." By this time we were at the barn and Daddy flipped on the lights. There stood Cloudy in one of the stalls! With a big grin on his face Daddy said, "Merry Christmas!" Oh, the joy that welled up in me was unspeakable! I gave Daddy a big hug as tears stung my eyes. I whispered, "Thank you, Daddy!" "Wayne told me that you can keep her here and take care of her for a few weeks until she's weaned." "Oh, thank you, Daddy!" I said again. I had lots of fun working with her, and seldom thought about the day when we would again have to say goodbye... maybe even for good! It seemed that the day came too soon. Wayne came down and said he was getting ready to go to the sale barn. He was going to take her and some other horses, to try and get them sold. I was almost in tears again, thinking about dear Cloudy going to that cold, mean place! Then suddenly, OH JOY! Daddy was asking if Wayne was willing to sell Cloudy to us. But good old Wayne said, "Oh no! Ya don't have to pay for her! Horses are goin' cheap. She can just have her! Don't worry about it!" And that is how I got Cloudy.
