 Our Faithful Companions

Allen was resting after he got home from being in the hospital when he was in the car accident, and Pepper cuddled up to him.

Pepper was born in 1988, and was our first pet. He lived to be about 17. He lived a long and fulfilling life, He was virtually blind, and would not have been able to navigate the stairs to the dog area of the yard at our new house. We made the decision to let Pepper go in the Fall of 2005. | Janelle always "talked" to Pepper

Pepper | When Pepper was young, he climbed the chain link fence on Rickey Road all the time. We had to drive all around to find him.

Pawprints On Our Hearts | Sissy came from Kirksville. She was getting in trouble in the chickens coupe so we brought her home with us. Sissy thought she was a big dog... in the picture above she is standing up to Pong. She followed Pepper over the fence, and got hit by a car. | Sissy

A dog is a bundle of love wrapped in fur." | Muffin

Muffin's Favorite Spot in the RV

A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than you love yourself." - Josh Billings

 A Dog's Life

Muffin who was a faithful companion for 16 years, who was ever loving and happy, passed away September 4, 2012. She will be sorely missed. She loved to hang her head out of the car window, ride on the front of the boat, and had a favorite spot to sit in the front of the RV. She had us (especially John) trained to give her treats by sitting at his feet and barking, and barking, and barking. And she had him trained to do this frequently. Muffin lived a good and comfortable life, and she will be missed.

 Muffin August 26, 1998 to September 4, 2012

Sandy lived very well. It was her purpose in life to guard"the food and always be first for handouts. When she was little she gained quite a bit of weight, and we finally figured out she was being the Alpha dog and eating the other dog's food. We put a quick stop to that. Sandy didn't realize her limits at times. One day on a walk in our neighborhood we were passing a house with two very large dogs that were in their yard minding their own business. Sandy escaped her leash and ran full tilt for the two dogs who were each nearly 100 lbs. Once she got there, she didn't know what to do. She promptly looked for her master to save her. She must of thought she had done her job letting those dogs know who the Alpha dog was. John was Sandy's favorite person. She was constantly at his side, ever the faithful companion. It was very difficult to make the decision to put Sandy to sleep, but it's worse seeing her in pain. Her liver was shutting down, she was retaining fluid in her abdomen, and was crying in pain. Proverbs 12:10 - A righteous man regards the life of his animal, But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
