2008 | We invited Leivians to go sailing. When we got to Bayfield, our boat was out on charter so we rented another one. We weren't allowed to bring Lucy on board. Another boater let me sleep on his boat with Lucy. One day, Steve docked in Bayfield and I sneaked Lucy aboard. We got to go out on the lake for a while.
Eric's Birthday | Christmas 2008 | Lucy came sailing with us over the Fourth of July. We took Sorensons out to Stockton Island. When we docked, I took Lucy for a walk. We walked past two black labs with their owners. They sniffed at Lucy and all was okay. When we walked past them on the way back to the boat, one attacked Lucy and bit her on her left shoulder. I pulled her away and headed back to the boat. | The labs' owner had a doggie first aid kit and we bandaged Lucy up. The coast guard helped us set up an appointment with a Washburn vet for the next day, July 4th. In the morning we motored back and she had several stitches. We did get out to watch the fire works on the lake. Lucy was a trooper.
2009 | In 2009 Lucy was slowing down./ She slept a lot and walked in circles. She would go into a corner and not be able to find her way out. We bought diapers for her and helped her eat.
It was really hard to decide to put Lucy to sleep. We met with the vet a couple of times and realized that Lucy was probably hurting. We were hanging onto her for ourselves.
January 2010 | Christmas 2009 | On February 27th we took her to the Uptown Vet. We all held her and told her we loved her. She was so trusting. It didn't take long for the meds to work. We cried and cried. | Dog's lives are too short, Their only fault really. Agnes Sligh Turnbull
