S: Patrick & Nicole's New York Chapter - The First Two Years
 Our Adventures
Valentine's Day 2008 | On February 14th, 2008, we both sat in front of our computers. Me in Syracuse, NY and you in Ithaca, NY.
Our first date was a dinner at the Boatyard Grill and we even had a Sizzling Cookie for Dessert! While part of the night is still a bit controversial, it was also the spot of our first kiss. | Boatyard Grill - Ithaca, NY
I will never forget the first time I met your friends - It was April 10th, 2008 at the Plant. We walked in the door and I immediately had everyone looking at me and was told "if you break her heart, I'll kill you!" and she was serious ! Just 3 days later, on April 13th, I was back in Syracuse while you were in Ithaca. That night we talked on the phone and I gathered the courage to ask you to be my girlfriend. Now you don't have the best cell phone reception at your house and right as I asked you "Do you want to be my girlfriend?", there was silence. The silence lasted forever, but eventually, the connection was reestablished and you said yes! It was the most nerve wracking time in my life!
That Friday, April 18th, was the OTS date auction. I had no idea what to do - should I bid?, should I not bid?, do I need to "win her" at all cost? Luckily, your friends turned to me and promised to help. Little did I know, their idea of help, was also bidding to drive up your price... Needless to say, you were the best (and only) date I ever bought and you were a bargain! | OTS Date Auction
So now it was your turn to meet all my friends. I invited you up to my house for BBQ Dinner on April 21st. What I did not tell you was that dinner was more than just you and I. I invited all of my college friends over too! While I was grilling, you fit right in playing polish horse shoes and talking with everyone. I didn't want you to be nervous, but later on I told you about "Zins stamp of approval" and how you gained that honor. While I knew how great you were, it meant a lot that my friends shared the same feeling.
June 28th, 2008 Our first wine tour!
One of the many hobbies we share in common is running. On July 12th, 2008, we ran in the Utica Boilermaker! | We both ran a great race and I was very proud of you for doing so well. Unfortunately, we didn't choose a good place to meet after the race. As a result, we didn't find each other until it was time to go! | Gun Time - 1:47:31 Pace - 11:33 | Gun Time - 1:19:23 Pace - 8:31
The day of the Boilermaker was also the day of our 3 month anniversary! After a wonderful post-race nap, we went to Rosalie's Cucina in Skaneateles. It was a good dinner, but I will never forget how scared the waiter was after he tried to take your plate before you were done eating - I bet he never made that mistake again with other customers. Later that night, I told you "I Love You", but of course it didn't come out that cleanly. This was by far the most nervous night since asking you out. A short time later (7 days to be exact), you said "I Love You" as well and I was in such shock that I didn't even say it back - until you asked. Needless to say, my love for you has only grown over the past two years that we have been together.
Meet the Parents July 2008 was a busy month for us – not only did we run the Boilermaker and attend Greg & Lauren's wedding, but we also met each other's parents. You had the pleasure of meeting my parents first since they were up visiting for the entire month of July. A few days later, I got to see the place where you grew up on our way to meet your parents. I will never forget that day for many reasons, but the most memorable was when I got to sit between your parents at dinner and attempt to eat corn on the cob without spraying them!
Our First Vacation! | At the end of July, we took our first vacation together - the Great Escape in Lake George, NY. It was a great time from the scavenger hunt on the way down, the brewery we almost didn't find, our first night of dancing and of course - the amusement park!
 August 16th, 2008 Greg and Lauren's Wedding
At the wedding reception, you met the CFO of Sensis, whose wife was also a Cornell graduate and DVM. He threw us both off guard when he asked "How long have you two been married?" My response, "No, never, nope, no, we're not". I can only imagine how red my face was afterwards and the thoughts going through your head!
Nicole turns 25! | Your birthday occurred just 4 months into dating and I wasn't sure what to get you. So what do I do, get you 300 Pink Starbursts and an appliance! Nothing says Happy 25th like a blender.
You, Suzanne and I set out on a cold fall morning to run the wineglass marathon with support from Carrie and Moby! Our team time was 3:53:56 and we each set new personal records in our legs. Who knew we would run the entire thing the following year! | 2008 Wineglass Marathon October 5th, 2008 Team Sigmoid Flexures
6 Month Anniversary | To celebrate our 6 month anniversary, we went out to Nestico's Italian restaurant and I had to leave on a 6am flight the following morning! When I woke up that morning, I knew I wanted you to have a key to my house.
November 14th-17th, 2008 Weekend with the VanGurp's | This was the weekend of your Mom's surprise 50th birthday party. We drove 9 hours in the car and talked the entire way and even had time to have dinner at brewery in Cleveland. My best memory was driving in the car and saying "wouldn't it be funny if your Dad kidnapped me and I spent the day alone with him?" Your response - "No, that won't happen." What does your Dad tell us shortly after we arrive at your house? - "I am taking Pat with me!" I learned a lot that day with your Dad, but most of all I learned that your parents loved you very much. The surprise party was a success and we had fun on the first half of our drive home, even stopping at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Unfortunately a Lake Effect Blizzard hit and we were stranded in Johnstown over night. We made the best of the situation and made it home the following day!

We got to cut down a tree, decorate it and make cookies! We also got our first holiday card, but had to spend Christmas apart and separated by 750 miles! | Our First Christmas
New Years in Vermont - 2009!! | After we celebrated our own Christmas together, we headed to Vermont for New Year's. We went skiing in Stowe for 3 days, visited several breweries and who could forget spending New Year's eve at The Shed bar dancing and who could forget the first song you sang to me - "Sugar We're Going Down" by Fall Out Boy. "...I'll be your number one with a bullet A loaded God complex, cock it and pull it"

Our one year anniversary fell on a Monday and we both had high hopes for spending the night together. Unfortunately, your Neurology Rotation had other ideas and you were stuck at the CUHA late. Even though things didn't go as planned, we still spent time together and gave each other the same exact card! | One Year Anniversary April 13th, 2009
A Visit to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo | May 25th, 2009 Syracuse, NY

Camping - Newcomb, NY | Hiking, canoeing, duct taping the tent, a trail run, beer pong and camp fires! | September 5th, 2009
Lake Placid, NY September 6th, 2009 | Olympic Village, Ben & Jerry's and the Lake Placid Brewing Company. Then we talked on the drive home and replaced "special someone" with Nicole & Pat.
September 18th-28th, 2009 | We had quite a journey this week - Virginia Beach, Charlotte, Winston-Salem. Charlottesville, NY City & home. It was the start of our adventure in finding a place to start our lives together!
September 27th, 2009 Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees
After a 7 hour drive in the dark, 4 hours of sleep and a 2 hour rain delay.... | The Yankees win 4-2!!!
WW | Wine Glass Marathon Corning, NY October 4th, 2009
I will never forget the day I told you I was thinking about running a marathon. You thought I was crazy and swore you weren't interested. The next thing I knew, you were putting together training schedules. So we embarked on an 18 week training program which started the end of May. Three pairs of sneakers and over 600 miles later, we ran the Wine Glass Marathon and completed 26.2 miles in 4:23:05 (10:02 pace)! A great time for our first (and not last) marathon.
 Halloween 2009
Thanksgiving 2009 | This was our second holiday together. You had to work while I got our Turkey "Hank" stuffed and in the oven! And when we ate later that night, he was delicious.
 Colorado Interviews & Skiing December 6th-20th, 2009
We found some good breweries in Denver, especially the Irish Pub! Our trip home was not as successful since a blizzard canceled our Syracuse flight and we had to fly into Albany and drive home! | Denver & Another Blizzard
Christmas 2009 was spent over 1,100 miles apart. You were Ithaca with your Dad and on an Emergency rotation while I was in Ocala with my family. This is our favorite holiday yet it is the only one we haven't spent together and we are both looking forward to Christmas 2010 when we spend it together in Colorado! | Christmas 2009
There was no singing this year, but we got to spend it together (and with Orion too). The past two New Year's were perfect and I want to be the one to give you a New Year's kiss every year. | New Year's 2010

This year Cornell & Syracuse made the NCAA tournament. We'll have fun watching the games and filling out a bracket to see who wins the bet! | NCAA Basketball March Madness
Happy 2nd Anniversary! | The past two years have been amazing! Everything we do together has been fun - from watching movies, hanging out with friends or just spending time relaxing with Orion. We know exactly what the other is thinking, how to cheer each other up and still write notes to each other to make a smile. I can't wait until June when we start our lives together in Colorado.
 Our journey begins...
"IT ONLY TAKES A SECOND TO SAY 'I LOVE YOU' BUT A LIFETIME TO SHOW IT." - TERESA COLLINS | I love you not only for what you are, but for who I am when I am with you.
P | & | N | On December 31, 1948, my grandparents were married and enjoyed 47 years of their lives together. This was the ring my Grandfather used when he asked my Grandmother to marry him, which was also his mother's engagement ring. | When I started designing your ring back in February, I used part of her ring to make yours. It was a fun, yet nervous experience, but our conversation on St. Patrick's Day made me realize the timing was perfect. I can only hope we share as many years of marriage as my grandparents. I Love You!
