1: About Us About The Bride Jen is amazing in every way. Meeting her was unintentional and easily the luckiest thing that has ever happened to me. We are compatible in so many ways, making our relationship exciting and seamless. Jen is by far the best woman volleyball player in Springfield; she dreams of breaking the bones of her opponents. She has always had the most beautiful smile since the day I met her; which coincidentally was the day she got her "adult" braces off. She is hilarious, witty and sometimes sharp tongued. She is always cold, loves shiny things and the best laundry folder I have ever seen. Now that she does my laundry, I can fit at least twice as many shirts in each drawer! She loves children...is a baby hog...and is a picky eater even though sometimes she will try new foods just for me. She keeps me active on weekdays, makes me go to events I would have never gone to (and I almost always have a good time) and is a very creative. Meeting her has been a true blessing and I look forward to our many years together! About The Groom Every day with Tom is the best day I've ever had. He can make me laugh, comfort me when I'm upset and cook me a delicious meal when I am hungry! Tom is responsible, smart, funny and very cute! He can have fun and make others have fun no matter where he is. He is a great volleyball player and loves to hit the gym. Tom plays trombone in a band, he works extra hours at the office, he runs 5Ks in less than 24 minutes, he makes home made lasagna, he's a number one uncle, he breakdances on any dance floor, he can throw softballs really far and falls down when he runs on ice. Tom is the perfect guy and my best friend. Our Engagement Tom and I had been looking forward to a trip to Miyan Riviera, Mexico since December 2007, when his parents announced they were taking the whole family on vacation for a Christmas present. Finally June 7, 2008, rolled around and we took off from St. Louis at 3 p.m. and landed in Cancun a few hours later. We had a long van ride to our resort and didn’t arrive until late evening around 8-ish. We ate some dinner and pretty much went to bed. Traveling is exhausting! Sunday we woke up and planned on getting breakfast and then heading to the beach. I was getting the beach bag together while Tom was getting ready in the bathroom. I went into the safe to grab the towel cards that I had stuck in my wallet the night before and when I opened that safe, I saw a box with a big diamond ring staring back at me. Holy Crap! Tom was still in the bathroom and didn’t know I had gone into the safe. I shut the safe quietly just before Tom stepped out. I didn’t tell him anything and we went to breakfast. I was being extra nice to him over breakfast may I add. We went back to the room to pick up our beach stuff and Tom noticed the safe was open! Apparently I didn’t get it shut correctly (it was my first time operating the safe and I was doing it quickly). At first I think he freaked out because it was opened and he knew there was a ring in there, and then he asked me if I went into the safe that morning and I said nooooooooooo. He knew I was lying. So right there in our hotel room, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I believe his actual words were, “I got you this ring because I love you and want you to marry me.” Haha, how could you say no to that?! Tom and I enjoyed the rest of our Mexican family as an engaged couple!
