FC: Adventure of a Lifetime | Getting Things Done!
1: Journey Begins | What a beautiful view! | Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. -Ralph Waldo Emerson
2: Getting Things DONE | Year 9 | September 2002 - August 2003
4: Quest | The first few days I settled into my home and got to know my roommates. The 2nd year members also had different events planned for the 1st years to get to know people more. I was fortunate, since I lived with two 2nd years. They introduced me to their friends and many of them become some of my close friends while I served. A few days after I arrived in St. Louis, we met at the AmeriCorps office for orientation. At that point, I met a few of the new people that were new in the corps for 2002-2003. At the orientation we were given a few details (or actually only 1 - a pack list of what to bring and what to leave home) about the week-long immersion (Quest) that they had planned for the following week. Quest is not only an immersion experience, but we were also in a trial period. At the end of Quest each year 2 or 3 members decide that AmeriCorps isn't for them or they are asked to leave. Let me tell you I was nervous, not only for the backpacking trip (which I had never done before) but also because I moved to St. Louis and didn't want to return home in less than a week. | AmeriCorps St. Louis Headquarters
