FC: How A Bill Becomes A Law | BY: Blake Holovach

1: A bill starts out as an idea. Only members of Congress can introduce a bill in Congress.

2: Member of Congress officially introduce the bill in Congress by becoming the bill's sponsor. Then the bill is placed in a box called the hopper.

3: A bill clerk assigns the bill a number to send it to the appropriate committee.

4: If the committee agrees that the bill is ready, it is put into the House Calendar. | House Calendar

5: Members will vote to pass or not pass the bill.

6: If the bill is passed in the House, it goes through the same processin the senate.

7: If the bill is passed through both chambers and the president approves it. then it becomes a law.
