FC: Christmas Tree for 2009 | By Nik Roels

Thanksgiving break is when my family gets to cut down Christmas trees on our hunting land. We have to walk four blocks to find a tree. Usually, its not very exciting, but this year it was. Imagine being stuck upside down for what felt an eternity. It was pretty scary. I should know because it happened to me. It was Thanksgiving break when I was cutting down a Christmas tree for my family. I was cutting down trees with my aunts, my grandma my uncle, and little cousin.

I was eager to cut down my Christmas tree. I asked my Grandma if I could run ahead to cut down my Christmas tree, and she agreed. I ran ahead and found the perfect tree for my family. Something didn't feel right when I climbed up the sticky tree to cut of the top. The trunk was sort of thin and flimsy.

I took the saw off my back, I heard his big CRACK!!!! The second I heard that, I was scared to death. The trunk underneath me snapped and the top part of the tree folded down against the other part of the tree and I was sandwiched in the middle, upside down with no one to help me.

I was suspsended upside down for what felt like an hour. Then my little cousin showed up. "What are you doing upside down, Nik?" asked Flint. "Great! Your hear." I said sarcastically. Flint is only five years-old, and he is certainly not tall enough or strong enough to get me out of the tree. "Hey Flint, how about you get your Dad?" "Why?"

"Why?! What do you mean Why?! I'm stuck upside down Flint!" I said angrily. "But, why can't I ask you questions?" "Aaagh! Okay Flint, I'll answer all your questions you have for me, after you get your Dad." "Okay."

Flint ran into the woods and came back with Uncle Charles. He came running over and got me out of the tree. Uncle Charles is pretty tall, so he could just reach up and get me out. His reaction was not what I thought. I thought he would be angry at me.

As I walking back with him, I found the perfect tree. Under his supervision, I got to cut the tree down. That was the most exciting time I had cutting down the family tree I ever had!
