FC: Menendez Brothers

1: Who: Menendez Bothers Career: Neither had one; Lyle was in college but got suspended for plagiarism and Erik was still in high school. Family: Jose and Kitty Menendez (parents). Age: Lyle was 21 and Erik was 18.

2: What Happened: The men entered the room with shotguns; two shots were fired at Jose. One of the killers walked behind Jose and placed the gun against the back of his head and fired. Jose's lifeless body came to rest on the couch. Kitty stood and began to turn away from her attackers, taking a step or two before being shot in the leg and in her right arm. Kitty fell. Now that she was on the floor, her killers fired indiscriminately. Kitty was not dead but the killers were out of ammunition, they ran to the car to get more. They reloaded their guns. One of the killers ran back inside. The killer placed the shotgun against Kitty's cheek and fired. Kitty was shot ten times. The final act the killers performed was to carefully gather the shell casings.

3: Crime: Shot and killed their parents. Victims: Jose and Kitty Menendez When Occurred: August 20, 1989.

4: Who was involved: Erik and Lyle(the killers) and Jose and Kitty(the victims). Where: In the den of the families home in Beverly Hills.

5: Went to Court: On May 14, 1933. Trial Held: At the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

6: Defense's argument: They tried to prove to the jury that it was Jose and Kitty and not Lyle and Erik who should be held accountable for why the murders were committed. Prosecution's argument: They killed their mother and father.

7: Defense's evidence: They were stressed, due to abuse by their parents. Prosecutions evidence: Testified that the brothers had been spending large amounts of money.

8: Verdict of the trial: Guilty. Sentenced: To life in prison. After the trial: They went to jail. Went to jail: Yes. Still there today: Yes. Same crime or other reason: Same crime. What jail: North Kern State Prison.

9: Are they dead: No. How old are they now: Lyle: 44 and Erik: 41. Career: Don't have one, they are still in jail. Do they have a family: Yes, Lyle is married to Rebecca Sneed and Erik is married to Tammi Saccoman.
