Long ago there was a dinosaur who ran so fast his parents named him Speed.
He was gray, blue and pink and he was very funny. He loved it when his grandpa stayed with him while his parents were at work. Speed liked to race his grandpa because he always won. They had so much fun that someday he wanted to be a grandpa too.
When Speed grew up he became strong and even faster so he got a job in the city building buildings.
Speed was the fastest and strongest worker so he could carry the biggest boxes filled with the heaviest tools. He was happy.
Many years passed. Speed grew older and a little slower. He was happy because he was now a grandpa himself. He loved to take care of his grandson, Speedie Jr.
...and his baby granddaughter, Flower, who was still in diapers. Grandpa Speed took care of Flower and Speedie Jr. every Tuesday on his day off work.
One fall night Grandpa Speed took one last look at the stars and went inside to bed.
The night was so cold, he was still shivering when he crawled under his covers to warm up. Then he smiled. Tomorrow would be a wonderful day because Speedie Jr. and Flower were coming.
But in the middle of the night, Speed got an urgent telephone call from his boss. "We need you here in the morning, Speed." But my grandchildren are coming," Speed explained. "You will just have to find someone else to watch them,"said his boss firmly.
Speed tossed and turned all night watching the clock. Who could he call in the morning to watch his grandchildren? He had to find someone and that someone had to be lots of fun. "Someone please come help me," he whispered again and again. In the morning, his grandchildren arrived. What would he do, it was almost time to leave for work.
He was almost giving up when they heard a loud SWISH, SWISH, SWISH outside. They ran out in time to see Super Hero Longneck land in the front yard. "Did you need a babysitter," Super Hero grinned. "Yes", cried Flower and Speedie Jr. as they jumped up on his back. "Have a great day,'" called Grandpa with a big smile... and a bigger sigh of relief.
And then he ran off to work faster than he had ever run before.
