S: Steggie's Big Race
BC: Steggie Steggie is the charming story of a stegosaurus who overcomes his fears by outrunning them. It was developed and illustrated by Room 6 Preschool Class at The Shoreline Children's Center and funded by a grant from the Shoreline/Lake Forest Park Arts Council's Artist in Residence Program with as little direction as possible from the adults involved.

When Steggie was little, he loved to play Batman with his family.
His mom and dad were very proud of him. They loved him more than anything in the world.
Steggie could run at sonic speed which is very, very fast for a Stegosaurus. So when he raced with his friends, he could always win.
Sometimes he would let his friends catch him and they would roll around in the grass together.
Steggie loved rainbows because they were pretty. He made wishes on them. He wished everybody would be safe.
...safe from the monsters he worried about a lot. And he was safe until one night when he was 19 years old.
He was running a race through a flat dessert. He was being careful not to run into the cactus because their needles were very sharp.
Sharp like a monsters teeth he thought and shivered even though it was a hot and quiet night.
Just then he felt the ground shudder and heard a loud roar. He looked behind him and just inches away he saw a real monster, a T-Rex. He was so close Steggie could feel hot breath on his neck.
T-Rex thought he had a meal for sure, but just in time, Steggie turned on his sonic speed and escaped those chomping teeth by a mile. And that extra burst of speed carried him over the finish line in first place. "Hooray", cheered the crowd.
After Steggie collected his prize, he went with his good friend Teri to a tea party in Seattle to celebrate.
That night as he was falling asleep between his friends, Steggie thought of the monsters he had always been afraid of. But he wasn't afraid anymore.
