Luna always had many friends but there was one person who completely ignored her… his name was Sol. Sol was the most handsome brightest star in the universe, and because of him Luna had no light at all. Luna tried and tried to impress him for his light, but he would not give her any of his light. Luna and her friends always had hated Sol because he was the only one with light, and he did not give it even to the kindest person.
One day Luna had an idea, if she could trick him out of his light she could give it to everyone, but she would have to be very sneaky. That morning, when Sol was his brightest, she was ready to get Sol to give her his light.
“Hey Sol, have you ever tested to see if you can actually give away your light to someone else?” said Luna charmingly. “No”, said Sol, “I haven’t”. Luna took this as an opportunity, “Why don’t you test it on me, I mean unless you are scared…” Luna said. “Alright”,said Sol, “I’ll test it, but you have to give it back to me, you swear you will?” “Yeah of course!” said Luna. “Then by the power of the sun let the moon have my light!” then Sol went dark and Luna became very very bright and pretty. “Will you now give me back my light?” asked Sol. Luna replied “I will do to you as you have done to us all since our creation, you will not have your light until you find a way to trick me out of it, like I have done to you.”
Sol was very angry with Luna; he would never give anyone his light only because the Earth would be morning-less without it, and now Terra was always going to have night and Luna would be the only light in the sky. The plants were going to die and everything on the neighbor and eventually he would die as well.
Luna was so pleased with her new found power, she showed it to her friend Vena a neighbor of Luna and spoke without modesty, “Do you like the new look on me?”, and Vena replied, “You look marvelous, may I have some of your light too?”, and Luna was shocked, she did not want anyone to be as pretty as her, Vena was prettier than her without light, what would happen if she had it?... Luna pondered these things and responded “When I owe to you something, I will give you 1/8 of my light, but until then I shall keep it.”
Vena was a little upset, but she knew she could easily do something light worthy so she agreed, as she plotted her light taking. Luna’s other friends Mar, Uro, Juo, Satu, Nepta, Merc and even Terra, got the same offer and the same response. The first deed towards Luna was from Uro; he saved her from a meteor that would have caused her to have deeper pores, so she thanked him and gave him 1/8 of her light.
The next day Vena shared some gossip about how huge Terra was so she rewarded Vena with the promised 1/8 of her light. When every neighbor had eventually done a deed for her, she had no light left to give. Luna had realized that she had been tricked as well as Sol.
The next day she apologized to Sol and they went up to the realm of divinity for God’s help.
“HELLO SOL AND LUNA” boomed God. “WHY IS YOUR LIGHT GONE SOL? AND LUNA, WHERE IS THE LIGHT I GAVE YOU AND ALL THE PLANETS IN CREATION?” God was very confused so Luna spoke “The planets and I have always not had light and Sol has always beamed bright and taunted us with his beauty.” God looked at Sol angered, “YOU TOOK THEIR LIGHT DID YOU NOT, I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN NOT TO MAKE YOU SO SELFISH, FROM NOW ON EVERYONE SHALL HAVE LIGHT AND THE SUN SHALL ALWAYS BE SELFLESS AND KIND.”
And so it was written and so it was done. All the planets were beautiful and kind to all and the planets were kind and God saw this and it was good.
The sun never stole light again, and God saw this and it was good. God’s creation was finally complete.
