FC: My Own Faith Walk | Relationship with God- better through the years... | Lance Christopher P. Quiambao | Faith 2.0 – Making Sense of our Faith in the Digital World
Like most children, I was taught by my parents how to pray properly. Through the years, I had a very close relationship with God, thanks to my parents. | During the 2nd Grade, I received the Body of Christ for the first time. I could remember myself scared on how I would receive the Holy Host, either through the hand, or the mouth.
Through the years, I forget to pray to God, especially in my 3rd-6th Grades. There was one occasion that sparked my faith again. | Like most teenagers, I wanted to belong with others. I didn't think religion was cool, and my relationship with God weakened. Backed up by bad happenings in my life like low grades, I got mad at God.
One day, I couldn't do anything at home, except play computer, and that is why I played for 13 hours. Because of that, I couldn't sleep. I didn't know what to do. That is when I decided I had to get help from God, and after a short prayer to God, he fulfilled my wishes, and I was able to sleep. After that night, I started to pray, even without problems.
Sadly, despite praying to God every night, my faith was still weakened a couple of times. During grade school, Every time I get a low grade in exams, I get so mad that I blame everyone, and sometimes to an extent that I blame God. Through this, I learned to always remember that life doesn't end with failure, but how you react to one. Do you take it as a challenge to become better or do you give up because of it?
Although after what happened, I am still a bit shy to God sometimes, especially when I did something wrong. But I know in my heart, after I contrite, God will always be ready to welcome me with open arms, like nothing happened. We always have to remember that God will never plant hatred towards us inside of Him because He loves us.
My family will always be there to be good influences and will always protect me from sins.
My classmates, no matter how random they are, play a big role in my religious life. Especially, the fact that our school always gives us programs which really boosts our knowledge about what is going around our world, and what God wants us to do, really helps.
In the 7th grade, I went to a class retreat wherein we learned to be closer to God. I realized bad things I have been doing and were able to stop them.
