1: For Mrs.Jamison-Wells

2: Setting This story takes place in Mississippi in 1933. Summary Cassie, the main character, started out as a very shy young little girl in the fourth grade. Stacey, the oldest child, is in the seventh grade and he starts out as an irresponsible kid. Little Man, the smallest child of the group, asks the most questions of all and absolutely cherishes books. Christopher-John, the second youngest child, happens to be absolutely cowardly. Mama keeps things in order around the Logan house. Big Ma watches over the kids. Papa works on the railroads in Louisiana, so he cannot visit very often. Mr.Morison is a big, big man who lives on the Logans' property and finishes any fight needs that needs to be finished. T.J.is the neighborhood troublemaker. None of the kids really like him, they have just known each other for a very long time. Major Problems The Main problem in this story is that the Logan family is faced with some of the hardest times for black racism. It turns out that many black people have been tormented by some of the white people. They did things like tarring and feathering, they would spray people with gasoline and throw matches at them, and other times it was just the standard punch-out. Anyhow, things were very rough for the black people of that time.

4: solution The solution of this problem is, there isn't one yet. There is not a solution yet because they can't change the white peoples minds on how they criticize the black people. Although there is not a solution, yet there will be when Martin Luther King Jr. gives his "I have a dream" speech. Conclusion The conclusion of this story is that nobody can change anything, but everything goes back to normal since the big money crisis since mama lost her job.

5: Main Character Details The main character of this story is Cassie. In the beginning of this story Cassie would stand for her own self-interest instead of doing the right thing at the right time. In the end of this story she had learned discipline. A perfect example is when Cassie would not apologize to the white Lillian-Jean in Strawberry town for bumping into her. Lillian-Jean demanded an apology but Cassie would not budge until she was forced to. Later, when Cassie was told by Stacey to go back to the house and get help while some white people were beating T.J. up, she did that without a fuss. If I was a Character Questions If I were a character in this story, my role would probably to help guide the kids through challenging tasks. My relationship with the character would probably be good friends because I would know what was right for them. My Character Scene In my scene, I would probably end up leading the kids back to the house during the big fire scene. I would tell Stacey to stay and keep a look-out for T.J., while I brought Cassie, Christopher-John, and Little Man back to the house. After I had carefully guided them back to the house, I would tell them to bring help and go aid Stacey myself. Once all of the adults arrived at the scene I would go get lots of water to help put out the cotton that was on fire. After that I would go find the other people in the forest and make sure that they were okay. Once it was all over I would head back to my house and go to sleep after a huge day.
