FC: Sunday Stroll
Jon is walking down a street when he remembers something he saw on the news about a new gang on a street in his area. Jon just got off work and wants to get home as quick as he can so he can see his wife and kids. Jon sees two men walking into an alleyway but thinks nothing of it.
The men, George and Jim, see Jon walking on their turf. This angers the group so they plan to jump him as soon as he gets in the dark cover of the alley. Jim gets excited and knocks a piece of glass over. "Shhhh" George hisses at Jim. George peaks around the corner and sees Jon approaching.
Jon hears the glass break and gets a bad feeling about it, but he just wants to get home and see his wife. Jon continues on the street. George and Jim get ready to beat up Jon. George orders Jim "When he walks past grab his arms and pull him into the alley." The thugs get into position as Jon walks past them.
Jim jumps out behind Jon and grabs his arms. Jon lets out a scream before he gets thrown to the ground. "Why are you on our turf?" George asks. Jon gets up and tries to run away but Jim punches him. The two men start beating Jon up.
An old lady who heard Jon's scream calls 911. George and Jim hear the sirens. They each get one last kick before fleeing the scene. Jon lays there for what seems to him like a lifetime. He could feel his face and chest swelling up. He The police show up and Jon is relieved. He gets fixed up and tells the police his story.
The officers tell Jon he shouldn't have gone down that street. He feels like he could have avoided this somehow. When Jon gets out of the hospital he takes a cab home. He sees people walking on the street and just keeps remembering that rainy night. He can still feel the thugs boots hitting his stomach. Every time Jon walks he cringes from the pain of all his bruises.
Jon gets home and hugs his wife. He cant even think about what could have happened if the police hadn't of shown up. Jon still feels sharp pains in his side whenever he rolls to a new side when he sleeps. His wife has to take care of him until he makes a full recover.
Jon returns to work the next week and starts to walk down the same street again. He can feel the cool air in his hair and the slick ground from the overnight rain. Jon feels uneasy about walking this same route again but knows this is the quickest and easiest way to work.
As Jon is walking down the road he sees the two men who attacked him leaning against a wall. Jon quickly crosses across to the next street when it hits him. He could have just done that a week ago and not have gotten beat up. If he had not acted like there was nothing there and not have ignored the news he could have just avoided them.
Jon now goes everywhere with the mind set of avoiding conflict. If he had avoided the thugs like he did the second time at first he could have not gotten beaten up in the first place.
