2: Who is Ezinma? | Ezinma is the only child of Ekwefi that survived through infancy. She was at first believed to be a demon child that plagued her mother with a continuous cycle of life and death as newborns, but that ended when the village shaman had destroyed the marble that had supposedly held a curse of repeated fortune. She is favored by her father, Okonkwo, and is not treaded as harshely. She resembles her mother very closely.
3: 1. '"Let me make the fire for you," Ezinma offered. "Thank you, Ezigbo," she said. She often called her Ezigbo, which means "the good one."' 2.'"Yes," replied Ekwefi, too busy to argue. Her daughter was only ten years old but she was wiser than her years.' 3. 'Okonkwo was specially fond of Ezinma. She looked very much like her mother, who was once the village beauty.' 4. 'Ezinma sneezed. Ekwefi muttered 'Life to you.' At the same time the priestess also said, 'Life to you, my daughter.'Ezinma's voice from the darkness warmed her mother's heart.' 5. '"Is this yours?" he asked Ezinma. "yes," she replied. All the women shouted with joy because Ekwefi's troubles were at last ended.'
