1: Alaska or Bust | The beginnings of a new adventure | June 5 - June 12 | We.... June 5--got up early, flew to Seattle and boarded the Carnival Spirit June 6--enjoyed a fun day at sea sailing up the inside passage and dined with the Captain June 7--sailed into the Tracy Arm Fjords to see glaciers and watch for whales June 8--learned about the Klondike Gold Rush in Skagway & Cami earned her Junior Ranger Badge June 9--watched the Native American parade & toured Alaska's State Capitol in Juneau June 10--walked through Creek Street up to the Totem Pole Heritage Center in Ketchikan June 11--cleared Canadian Customs and strolled the water front after dark in Victoria June 12--flew through Chicago arriving late in Wichita

19: We visited Juneau on June 9, 2012 watched a Native Alaskan Parade and visited the State Capitol building.
21: At a private tour of the State Capitol we learned many interesting things about Alaska "like the capital has no roads leading into town, you have to either fly or take a boat!"

40: June 12, 2012 Granny and Papa celebrating their 41st Wedding Anniversary traveling with the girls
43: CAMPING RV Style | What an amazing view! | June 21--July 4 We.... June 21 got up early and drove to Pueblo, CO, stopping in Liberal to visit Grandma Behrendt. June 22 drove through Monarch Pass and on the Elk Creek Campground to spend 3 nights with the Deegans. June 23 traveled to Lake City and visited water falls, ghost towns and went 4 wheeling. June 24 explored Black Canyon of the Gunnison. June 25 headed towards Montrose and Mesa Verda. CHANGE OF PLANS --when the van broke down 20 miles south of Montrose. Expecting to spend four days in Montrose getting the van repaired. June 26 visited Ouray, explored ghost towns and Red Mountain Pass June 27 went back again to Ouray to visit Lower Casade Water Falls, Silverton trains and swim in the Ouray Hot Springs. June 28 drove to Telluride and rode a gonadal to Mountain Village and returned to enjoy a street fair in Montrose June 29 made a day trip back to Elk Creek Campground for a visit with the Deegans and Cami worked on her Junior Ranger program badges. June 30 spent the day relaxing in Montrose swimming, doing laundry, shopping for chocolates, and just hanging out. July 1 drove back to Elk Creek Campground to spend the night with the Deegans. We took a road trip to Kebler Pass to visit Old Irwin Cemetery and Crested Butte. July 2 drove to Creede and saw lots of wild life; moose at Blue Lake, bighorn sheep, deer, marmots and the girls fed chipmunks. Above Creede we explored the abandoned Amethyst and Commodore Mines. July 3 got the van back "hurray" and headed towards Pueblo. July 4 were on the road again, stopping in Liberal, we finally made it back to Wichita ending our Colorado adventure.
44: June 21, 2012 The adventure started with a stop in Liberal and then a long drive to Pueblo. Goodbye Kansas! Hello Colorado!
45: Swimming after a long car ride took the kinks out and made dinner more enjoyable. After breakfast, we were on the way again towards Monarch Pass and Elk Creek Campgrounds.
47: The girls were anxious to get out and start hiking. They ended up having an impromptu swim after finally arriving at Aunt Ellen and Uncle Alan's camp site at Elk Creek.

54: A highlight of the trip was getting to go 4-wheeling.
56: We explored Capitol City a ghost town above Lake City on the Engineer Pass Road, which is part of the Alpine Loop. Capitol City was built for silver mining and had a large brick foundry.

65: June 25 We left Elk Creek Camp Grounds heading toward Mesa Verda. Change of plans, 20 miles south of Montrose the van stopped running, so we called AAA to save the day. We spent the rest of the day in the auto shop waiting to hear the verdict. "engine block needed to be replaced". We were told it would take four days to be repaired. We set up housekeeping at the Affordable Inn.. Nine days later we headed home. | Sabin picked out her Birthday present
67: Entertaining ourselves in Montrose with a street fair, doing laundry, a play ground and celebrating Sabin's 15th birthday. Favorite eating spot Taco Bell. Mmm.... | Sabin Happy 15th birthday
69: Ouray | Just South on Montrose we discovered a little town of Ouray. We enjoyed hiking, ghost towns, and water falls. Sabin even worked at decorating our rental car with wildflowers.

87: On the way back to the hotel after a long day of hiking in the mountains. We decided to stop in Ouray to relax with a swim in the Hot Springs Pool. Cami tried the water slides but she couldn't get anyone to ride with her because that water was unheated. Brrrrr
