Pictures taken from the boat on our way to Juneau. June 28

Rainforest Glacier Gardens in Juneau, area of temperate rainforest. The trees were turned upside down and then flowers put on the roots. To the left is an angel statute.

Mendenhall Glacier & Visitor Center It was breathtaking!

Whale Watching off the coast of Juneau. The whale on the bottom right is "breachiing"..

We had a very rainy day, but our guides said it was a good day to see whales because it was cooler and that brings the fish to the top of the water.. We saw 17 whales do bubble netting. A few whales blew bubbles around the fish. Then a few would "sing" to the fish. And then they would all come up with their mouths open for dinner. It was an awesome sight!!! We ended with a ride on the Mt. Roberts Tramway in the rain, then back to the ship after a full but good day!

6/29 Skagway White Pass & Yukon Railway We went up by bus and came down by rail.-breathtaking views! | I will lift up my eyes unto the hills where my help comes from. Psalm 123:1 | The picture to the right is a bridge supported only on one side as it joins 2 earthquake plates.

View as we crossed over into Canada. Flags at the bottom are at the Mountie station where a Canadian Mountie actually boarded our bus and checked passports.

The views coming down from the Yukon were just as spectacular as going up. We took a picture of With Buchanan just because it was there in the rocks (don't have a clue who put it there).

More mountain views from the train going down. We did see our first black bear from the train.

June 30, 2011 Cruising Glacier Bay National Park Our photos can't do justice to the beauty here. The bottom middle picture is the largest glacier in Glacier Bay, Marjerie Glacier.

July 2 - Anchorage (Whittier) Our ship docked and we had to disembark. We got on the McKinley Express train to go to Mt. McKinley Lodge. Upon arrival we stopped in the village of Talkeetna. Then took a coach to the MtMcKinley Princess lodge.

When we arrived at the lodge, the weather was so cloudy you could not see the mountain. They say there is only a 30% chance of seeing it. We had a spacious room with the largest bathroom we have ever seen in a place to stay. We took a Wagon Trail Ride in the evening, panned for gold, tried on moose antlers and even got "kissed" by a moose. Then Mark kissed a reindeer (caribou). Then it was time for sleep.

July 3 We got up early today, rafting on the Clulitna River at 7:30 a.m. Linda looks lovely in her rafting "outfit". Mark was taking the picture! | When we returned to the Lodge, everyone was excited because you could see the mountain (at least the outline)

July 4 Denali Express to the Denali Princess Lodge. The scenery from the train as we started to Denali National Park. .

More mountain views from the Denali Express. "Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10" comes to mind as you look at the mountains.

The mountain views were even more magnificent before we got to Denali.

July 4 Arrival at Denali Princess Lodge and views from the bridge outside our room. In the evening, we seen the 300 music of Denali theater at the lodge. Mark ate ribs, I had salmon (yuk!). The show was a comedy show of the first men to climb Denali, Good show.

July 5 7:30 a.m. Denali Backcountry Safari 4-wheelin' style. The second picture is the permafrost where the ground stays frozen. Mark drove, Linda closed her eyes a lot of the time during the drive down Stampede Road. This was the same road of Magic Bus fame where Christopher McCandleless lived for a few weeks in the wilderness and was found dead. \Water, bumps, tip-it challenge. (when can we go to the bathroom?) Then we came out to this campsite where there was an outhouse and stew cooking on the fire. A guy lives in this area for 3 mos. just to take care of the jeep people. He uses the bottom left pans to pan for gold. We also had some mountain views.

July 4 Tundra Wilderness Tour of Denali National Park 2:00 p.m. -11:00 p.m. (yes it was still light!) | our tour bus and a rest stop. | Toklat River, cement gray color due to glacier silt. | Mother grizzly bear and cub | Polychrome Pass

Dall sheep | Moose | Wolf | Rudolph?- this caribou just walked down the road right past the bus! | Our guide said the bald eagle is not found much in Denali because they eat mainly fish. | The golden eagle is found a lot in the park because they eat small animals like squirrels or mice.

July 6 --Coach to Fairbanks Discovery II Sternwheeler Cruise on the Chena and Tanana Rivers. We seen a seaplane demonstration. Then saw the home of Susan Butcher (Iditarod champion), new puppies and a practice sled dog run by her husband. (Susan died last year of leukemmia)
