FC: Alaska Cruise - May 2009 The Reynolds'
After a 6.5 hr flight to Anchorage, we took the McKinley Explorer to Seward where we caught our ship, the Ryndam | Friday, 5/29/2009
The second day on the ship, we sailed to view the Hubbard Glacier (top picture). I think we were all still getting our 'sea legs' but having fun and adapting to life at sea. There were already plenty of picture opportunities, and these are but a few.
The third day, the guys split off from the gals and went salmon fishing... Sitka, AK 5/31/2009
Captain Brownie aboard the Vixen and his deck hand helping us bait the lines and reel 'em in ... | Red King Salmon 22#, 34" White King Salmon 24#, 37"
The ladies seemed to have a good time as well doing the Sea Life Discovery excursion.
6/1/09 The 4th day we ported in Skagway, AK. Most of the group went for a helicopter ride and hike atop one of the area glaciers. The water was so pristine that they could drink it. What a sight!
Ginger and Cory opted to do a rock climb in Skagway, AK. What a blast! Now, if there just was any scenery...
now if we could only find the way down...
Next stop, Juneau, AK and whale watching... | 6/2/09 We were off to Juneau, AK for whale watching and to see the Mendenhall Glacier
Where are you whales? We're waiting (even the eagles), can't you tell...?
There you are!! Finally! But truly worth waiting for... Reported to weigh nearly 90,000 pounds emerging 6 to 8 feet out of the deep.
In addition to seeing the Juneau whales, we also saw the Mendenhall Glacier ... it was truly amazing ! | ... and if that wasn't enough, Eric proposed to Monica while we walked on the trail to the falls above. Congrats Monica & Eric!
6/3/2009 While in Ketchikan, AK, the youngsters went on a Zipline excursion. It didn't last long enough... surprised?
Unfortunately, the trip that took so long to plan, took very little time to come and go. A few of us gained a fiance, the rest of us just remembered how much we like to spend time together. Thanks to those who organized and financed this great trip.
