FC: September 2012 | Annie and Mary's Excellent Adventure September 2012 | A GRAND ADVENTURE IS ABOUT TO BEGIN | WINNIE THE POOH

1: EMBARKING ON A ONCE IN A LIFETIME | Day 1-Marina Del Rey | Mary meets up with Ann and Dave in Marina del Rey after attending a wedding in Anaheim.

3: Dave took us out in his boat. We had lunch, drank beer, talked to the seals, and saw Santa Monica pier. | Marina del Rey, California, U.S.A. | Day 1 | Marina del Rey, continued

4: Everything is high in California | Venice Beach at night . . .CRAZY !!!

5: A ONCE IN A LIFETIME | Watch out for the po-po

6: Catalina | Day 2 | Took the ferry from Long Beach to Catalina and met Dave and Jen. Had fish tacos and cruised around the island all afternoon. Had a great dinner and spent the night at Villa Portofino.

7: Ann drying her seaweed. | Jen has 911 on speed dial in case Dave gets eaten by seals. | Dave trying to swim with the seals. | Kissing a seal for luck, or something like that. | Captain Dave. Arggh! | Fine wine after a long day of cruising.

8: Said goodbye toJen and Dave and took the ferry back to Long Beach. Jumped in the rental car and drove to San Luis Obispo. Stayed in a great French-themed B&B, | Day 3 | Le Petit Soleil 1473 Monterey St. San Luis Obispo, CA 93401

9: Day 4 | Had breakfast at our B&B and went into town for the morning, shopping, touring the Mission San Luis Obispo, more shopping, and visiting"Bubble Gum Alley" before heading north to Paso Robles and Monterey.

10: Day 4, Paso Robles . . . | Stopped at Windward Vineyard on our way up to Monterey to see Marc Goldberg, the grandfather of one of the 2AM Club band members. It doesn't look like it from this picture, but Mary was the designated driver.

11: . . . then on to Monterey | Took Pacific Coast Highway 1 up to Monterey. It was cold and foggy, but the views were spectacular. Ann was feeding, umm, herself. Drove past Big Sur and Carmel, but didn't have time to stop. Got into Monterey late. Forgot to take pictures -- next time. Yes, there will be a next time. | Still on day 4 | Got one picture from the Portola Hotel and Spa in Monterey Bay. You got your choice of soft or hard pillows!

12: Day 5 -- Monterey to San Francisco | WE WANDER FOR DISTRACTION, BUT WE TRAVEL FOR FULFILLMENT. | HILAIRE BELLOC | Lots and lots of fog. | Stopped off in cute little Pacific Grove for breakfast before heading up the coast to San Francisco. | Welcome to San Francisco

13: IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MEMORIES | Had lunch in Sausalito with Chris, stopped by The 2AM Club in Mill Valley. Missed the ferry to Alcatraz, but had an adventure driving over the Bay Bridge to Oakland during rush hour.

14: Day 6 San Francisco, continued . . . | Morning. . . | Had to go standby on the 27th since we missed our ferry on the 26th. | X

15: Noon. . . | and Night | Eat, drink, and be Mary | Sonoma . . . So much wine, so little time.

16: Day 7 | We left our hotel by Fisherman's Warf for San Francisco Airport. Mary dropped Ann off and then drove down to Mountain View to meet Lee for lunch at Smug Mug headquarters and 2 more days of fun in the sun.

17: Much thanks to our dependable Dodge Avenger, our semi-dependable GPS Bernice, and all the friendly Californians who helped us along the way.
