S: Karen's African Adventure

BC: Mother loves her Zebra butts!

FC: Arusha, Tanzania 2011 Safi School Project

1: Mothers adventure in Africa began at the Nduto Lodge. Where they arrived at night to find the staff lined up to greet them. Mother thought they had landed in a BBC mini-series. But it was beautiful when the sun came up the next day.

3: Mother & Erla's room. Pretty nice compared to what Karen thought she would be staying in! She envisioned a mud hut or tent in the Savanna!

4: Neighbors kids, stop to see all the new faces and to get their photos taken. | So eager to learn! So curious! So darn adorable!

5: The Safi School | This is the Safi School. So much work to do so little time. | These are the students waiting to learn. | Arusha

8: This is the well that they have worked so hard to get up and working. Water is on its way. The well started working on 3/5/2011

9: Arusha, Tanzania Safi School Project. The new well is being dug and should soon be in. Fresh water for the school.

10: The Classroom at the Safi School | The Students | Sorting out the hats to give to the orphans and school children.

11: Vivian, Innocence & Good Living Karen & Natalie and the children's mother. She makes treats for the School children to buy on their breaks | Mom fell in love with Miss Vivian. And with that face who wouldn't.

12: Karen's student she has been sponsoring, ElIsante Pinieli, and his family are so happy to meet her at last. A beautiful belt made for Dennis and beautiful tribal fabric for mom. She also went to their home and met his parents Mr. & Mrs. Pinieli.

15: Breakfast at the lodge, fresh fruit mother was so happy. The church in the village by the school.

16: Mom and Erla and the other workers getting the books ready for the school. | The books are all done and the book shelves are built. Hard work is great when you know the kids will really enjoy and use them!

17: David paints a mural on the wall of the classroom. The kids line up to fill their buckets with water to take home.

20: Beautiful flowers and art work on the way to the safari.

22: The hunt in metal sculpture. | The origins of Man.

23: The first wild animals they saw on the trip. | Baboons on the side of the road out of town.

25: Look what is watching you while you are eating! Sunset through the tress is amazing.

27: a Lioness getting the kids out of harms way when the male showed up.

28: African Safari | Lions | Lions and cheetahs and Zebras oh my!

29: Lions napping in the shade next to the road. Lions hiding in the trees for shade, can you see him? so beautiful and royal.

30: Elephants! They saw a herd of elephants at the water.

31: And the babies play in the water. | That was close enough

32: Mother is obsessed with Zebras and stripes & rear ends!

33: Zebra babies | Moms are the same no matter where or what they are. | Zebra butts! How cute is that!

35: Giraffe's are so very tall and graceful. They were so close to the vehicels and funny looking birds too! Look how they have to get so low to the ground to drink!

36: The Great Rift . Looking down into it from the top on the ride into the crater | The Great Rim coming out the other side.

37: The entrance to the Ngorongoro National Park. in the Oldupai Gorge where Mary Leakey found the skull of Australopithecus.

39: Serengeti National Park

40: Termite mounds and sunset. | Hippos in the water all ears and noses.

41: Masaii Village and Mt. Kilimanjaro | Lunch under a tree in the Serengeti more animals.

42: Animals of the Savannah

44: Look at how high the Maasai men can jump in the air! Amazing | Maasai men performing for the group.

45: The Maasai in their colors and beads, so amazing Singing and dancing. The bead work is amazing also.

46: Mothers new all-time favorite place to eat and get her car fixed. Auto parts by day Killer bbq by night!
