Geography | The best time to come to Boston is in the late spring and early fall. Of course this will be the time where most people vacation to Boston. In the winter the city puts up lights for the holiday. It will be pretty cold in the winter with some snow too.

MAP ON TOP: The map on top is above Haymarket Square. In this map you see where Paul Revere's hose was. Boston has a lot of streets that lead you to historical sights and to popular attractions. | MAP ON BOTTOM: The map on bottom shows where all of Boston's hotels are. Many of them are close together and are by popular attractions.

 Boston's historical events

People from Boston are called Bostonians. There is another sports team that Bostonians root for, The New England Patriots. The Patriots are a football team who have dominated the last decade. There is also a professional hockey team in Boston, The Boston Bruins!

Journal #1 | I was in the car to Boston, Massachusetts! The ride from Kansas took a long time. We found a nice hotel that overlooked the Black Bay. It is late so I'm going to go to bed. Tomorrow my family is going to explore Boston! I want to visit all the memorials and the museums, and the Restaurants!

Journal #2 | When I woke up the sun was shining through my window. The rest of my family was getting ready to leave. I got my stuff on and we went out. The first place we we are going to visit was the Bunker Hill Monument. In shape it is almost like the Washington Monument. A lot of men died in the Battle of Bunker Hill. Then we went on the freedom trail! It is a 2.5 mile walk that has 16 historically significant sites. It was like a walk through a time machine. Then at the end of it, it was back to reality.

Journal #3 | Today my dad is taking me to a Celtics game! The Celtics are Boston's hometown professional basketball team. They play at the TD Garden. I wish there was an NBA team in my hometown. Going to the game was really cool because I saw some more things to do while we were in Boston. The Celtics were playing against the Los Angeles Clippers. The game was disappointing because the Celtics got crushed. I did get to see some exciting dunks though! After the game my family was going out for dinner at a seafood restaurant.

Journal #4 | On my last day in Boston, we were going on a tour in Fenway Park! Fenway is where the Boston Red Sox play. The Red Sox aren't as good as my hometown team, The Kansas City Royals, are. The tour was really awesome. Fenway Park is the oldest baseball park ever. It was built in 1912 and is still in use today. I saw the big wall that is in left field, the Green Monster. I got to go on the field too. My vacation in Boston was Pretty awesome! I got to see so many things and got to eat at so many different restaurants. I got to see a lot of historical sites, including the USS Constitution, Faneuil Hall, Old North Church, The Bunker Hill Monument, and more! I hope I get to comeback someday!

Boston and Kansas City are alike because they both are historic cities. However, they are historic for different reasons. Boston is mostly known for the events of the American Revolution. On the other hand Kansas City is known for jazz music and the Negro baseball league. Just as Kansas City, Boston is known for baseball too. Boston has the oldest stadium in the MLB, it is 100 years old! | Compare/Contrast

This journey to Boston has had a positive effect on my life. I now feel like I know more about my country. There were so many museums, monuments, and memorials I was able to see. I know what happened in the American Revolution and where it happened. I was able to see the names of famous generals and fallen troops that fought hard for Independence. I have more respect for our armed forces and the American Flag. | Cause and effect #1

To me, a result of a true journey is realizing what you want to do in life. A true journey can be an emotional one, where you force yourself not to give in to temptations. Or a true journey can actually mean traveling the world. A journey is like a lifelong goal. Another type of journey is where you work your whole life to complete that goal, and then celebrate it. At the end of your journey you'll feel like you've learned a lot. A journey of mine is to work hard to get my body in shape to become great at the sports I play. | Cause and effect #2

The Conclusion | Just as an army officer in the Battle of Bunker Hill put it ''Don't shoot 'till you see the whites of their eyes.'', which meant don't open fire until they are really close, is a fitting statement for Boston. In Boston, you can get really close with history. Boston has the exact places where famous battles and events happened. Boston is a place with so much to do and explore, like seeing sporting events and museums. When a trip to Boston is over, the visitor will leave knowing a lot more about history than when they first arrived.
