1: SAN JOSE | Enjoyed a drive through famous coffee growing region. Visit Poas Volcano. Poas Volcano is one of the world's largest geysers with an awesome crater, over 1.5 km wide | The weather did not cooperate. We just saw glimpses of the crater | Under the umbrella plant | DECEMBER 29 | Most visited park in Costa Rica | Half mile walk to see the crater | Sulfurous gases

6: We had a local dance show before lunch | Our guide, Rolando and bus driver, Juan Carlos. They call themselves TICOS

7: Vi | Visited Cafe Brit, a coffee plantation nestled in Barva de Heredia, on the slopes of the extinct Barva Volcano

8: Enjoyed a scenic morning drive through Braulio Carillo Park. Visited a butterfly garden | DECEMBER #30 | Beautiful varieties of flora

10: Saw banana, papaya, pineapple, coffee and sugar cane plantations and also mango and coconut groves | Bad harvest | Mode of transport | Papayas | Plantains

11: "Living Fence | Pineapple | Organic Pineapple | Coconut

12: Cruised through rivers and canals to the 47,000 acre Tortuguero National Park.

13: The Village | Back view from our room | No AC, no TV or phone

15: It was my first time to see multi-colored tree frogs and a 2 and 3-toed sloths

16: RIVER and CANAL CRUISES SAW TONS OF WILD LIFE | DECEMBER 31 | BIRDS !!! | Snake Bird | Roseatte spoon bills | Great Kiskadee | Blue Heron | Boat billed heron | Great Egret | Toucan | Snowy Egret

17: BIRDS | The Park is home to 300 species of birds | Anhinga | Northern Jacana | Wimbrel | Tricolored Heron

18: LIZARDS, CAIMANS, IGUANAS and REPTILES | Jesus Christ Lizard | Male iguana | Female iguana

20: White-faced capuchin monkeys | Squirrel monkeys | Blondy" | MONKEYS | Howler monkeys

23: JANUARY 1 | Drove through scenic countryside to the San Carlos valley on the way to Fortuna | Ficus tree roots | Swiss town

24: Had a Rainbow Forest Fashion Show during lunch | KAPOK TREE

25: Our accommodations | Beautiful landscape | Recycle Bins

26: Cruised on the Rio Frio which runs through the world famous Cano Negro wildlife refuge | JANUARY 2 | ARENAL VOLCANO, most active volcano | Typical lunch of rice and beans

28: I named him COUGAR. He followed us all along the river | Had a short stop at the shore of Nicaragua | IGUANA TREE

29: 25 swimming pools with temperature of 32 - 67 degrees C | I went down that right slide and almost broke my back | Don't I look skinny?

30: JANUARY 3 | Had an unforgettable adventure in the heart of the rainforest at the Hanging Bridges, rated one of Costa Rica's top tourist attractions | It was POURING rain all the time we were there | Wafflle stones we had to walk on

34: JANUARY 4 | ZIP LINING | FIRST - They hook you up with your gear SECOND - They ask you to jump to attach you to the line THIRD - You climb to the platform (we had 8 platforms)

35: ...and AWAY you go | If you don't make it all the way to the next platform, you have to pull yourself in | You can go head up or go upside down | Karen and I and guide went as a 3-some at the last station | Karen and I survived. Connie had to quit half-way since she got dizzy
