This lovely hostel would be our home for the 5 weeks from April to May. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens and would serve as the hub from which our daily journeys would commence. By staying at a hostel we would maintain a low budget and save money for various excursions throughout Cape Town.

Dear Mom, Mallory and I have arrived safely in Cape Town and couldn't be happier. We have found a beautiful place to stay called Ashanti Lodge. Our first adventure involved snorkeling off a small boat with another family and a guide. We were able to feed the fish and take amazing pictures. We are planning a safari, and start our volunteering next week. Hope all is well back home. xo Adrienne
Dear journal, today we took part in an evening safari after which we witnessed the most beautiful sunset. It truly felt like a movie. The first two weeks have gone by so fast...
 95$ each
At our placement, we would work with children aged 4-10yrs each morning from about 9am until 12pm. During their lunch recess we would engage in the conversation and games, focusing on being present and approachable. We would help with daily lessons and later discussed popular health and cultural topics with the adolescents. An opportunity for a reciprocal learning experience!
Before embarking on this journey, Mallory and I would engage in fund-raising initiatives in order to collect various school supplies and toiletries. These items, and a cash donation of 500$ would be donated to the school in order to support the schooling of the neighborhood children. In addition, we would leave behind spare belongings.

Dear Journal, This experience would be a dream come true. I would be truly blessed with this opportunity and look forward to returning to Africa. I believe when volunteering and working with the community one is able to gain a more accurate representation of a country. I enjoy discovering new cities in this context. I would make amazing connections with the children and my house mates. 5 weeks is enough time for routine, yet I would greatly miss my family and daily activities. Until next time... xo
