FC: Arthurian Legends

1: The stories of King Arthur that we know and love are fiction. There might have been someone named king Arthur. But we don't know much about him. Throughout the ages, the stories of Arthur, has captured the minds of many writers and poets.

2: This is a map of England in the 1400s.

3: The people from these ages were Roman Catholics. They believed in the mother Marry. They wore crosses as necklaces.

4: "This is Excalibur sword. The man capable to take it from this anvil, will be King of England"

5: The Legends about Camelot create an impression of a wonderful, mystical castle. Where Knights in shining armor lived to an honorable Code of Chivalry. | There is a massive Round Table in the Great Hall at Winchester which was said to be King Arthur's Round Table. | The romances depict the city of Camelot as standing along a river, downstream from Astolat. It is surrounded by plains and forests, and its magnificent cathedral.

6: The pentangle on Gawain's shield is seen by many critics as signifying Gawain's perfection and power over evil. The poem contains the only representation of such a symbol on Gawain's shield in the Gawain literature.

7: The armor slowly was perfected, until at length the knight became a living fortress. The suit of armor was VERY expensive to make. A knights suit of armor had to be tailor-made to fit the knight exactly. | Medieval Shields were developed to shield, or protect, a knight or soldier from the direct blows from the weapons of their enemies.

9: Crowns were warn for two reasons. A crown was an object of state and a headpiece. They were worn by kings and queens to show or demonstrate power. Then there was the diadem. this was the type of crown worn by Roman emperors and kings of pagan tribes.
