S: Discovering Europe in 2009
FC: Discovery Italy and Switzerland | The adventures of Mike, Wendy and Kenzie.
Happy father's day dad! We all love you so much!
Florence | Here in the beautiful city of Florence is where we met. Dad and Mom from their cruise and Kenzie from London.
 Sienna, Italy
We toured the surrounding area.... first on the list was Sienna. A city where both Dad and I have been before but we're eager to show Mom.
This is a beautiful place to visit. We found a gorgeous room with a balcony in Riomaggiore. Dad was hesitant about the price but once he saw the view for himself he knew it was worth it. We spent our nights drinking wine and eating baguettes and cheese, living the simple Italian life. | We also met a solo traveler, David Fox from Colorado. He had no money and no place to stay so of course Dad and Mom brought him into our bungalow for the night... Kenzie and Dave slept outside on the balcony!
Today we are hiking between all five towns. The walking trail, known as Sentiero Azzurro ("Light Blue Trail"), connects the five villages. We started the hike in Riomaggiore, and began our journey to Manarola. The trail from Riomaggiore to Manarola is called the Via Dell'Amore "Love Walk".
The stretch from Manarola to Corniglia is the easiest to hike, although the main trail into Corniglia finishes with a climb of 368 stairs. Feel the burn... The hike between Corniglia and Vernazza is breath taking. Vernazza looks like a fortress from this angle (above).
The town of Vernazza, personally the most beautiful of the five towns. Here we enjoyed a yummy Gelato and the views before carrying on to Monterosso al Mare, the final town.
Monterosso al Mare we made it... right after we climb down the ridiculous amount of stairs
 Matterhorn, Zermatt Switzerland
Hiking up to the base of the Matterhorn, we swore Dad wanted us to touch it so.... We did!
When you look at your life, the greatest happinesses are family happinesses. -Joyce Brothers | Interlaken
A phenomenal holiday filled with breathtaking sights, wonderful experiences, tasty food and lasting memories. We just wished Sean could of joined us...
