24: Native to Saint-Malo, writer, Francois-René de Chateaubriand is buried on Grand Bé island per his request. | Saint-Malo is notorious as home of French privateers or pirates. Statue is of Robert Sucraft 1773-1827 | Jacques-Cartier sailed from Saint-Malo and is credited with the discovery of Canada. The plaque on the floor of St Vincent's depicts where Cartier received a blessing from the Bishop of Saint-Malo before he set sail.
