S: Europe Bound ~ 2010

BC: This was a fantastic, life changing trip spent with my sis! LIFE IS GOOD!

1: Lauren Votteler USA | August 29 - September 11 2010 | European Memories

2: Dublin, Ireland Luck of the Irish | We arrived in Dublin & took a taxi from the airport to our hotel. The driver told us everything about the city as we struggled to understand his accent. After we checked in to the Maldron Hotel we grabbed some lunch and hit the shops, surprise!!

4: The Monuments in Dublin The Spire aka Rod to God, Parnell Monument, Daniel O'Connell Monument, Children of Lir in Garden of Remembrance, James Larkin, Sir John Gray, Father Matthew &Molly Malone

7: The Guinness Storehouse The 7 story fermentation plant was turned into the storehouse shaped like a pint glass. At the top we enjoyed a great 360 degree view of Dublin & a pint.

8: The fishing village of Howth on the northern coast of Dublin | The Lighthouse off the coast & the seals swimming by the dock

9: Coffee in the Castle Cafe | The Malahide Castle | Donkeys | "Have fun storming the castle!" | We took a bus tour to the Howth on the northern coast of Dublin. Then we went to the Malahide Castle which was lived in until the 1970s.

10: Trinity College | We went through the Trinity College Library and the Book of Kells - both are very Beautiful!

13: LEMON: Sweet & Savory Crepes | The Grand Central Bar: Fish & Chips & a Pint | SHAKES: Yummy Milkshakes | AURORA: Pub Sandwiches | We saw many cool things just walking around the city.

14: London, England "Mind the Gap" | The London Tower, "Big Ben", The London Eye & Trafalgar Square

15: Buckingham Palace | We had just a short time in London, but we made the best of it. I loved the Palace and seeing "Big Ben" at night!

17: London Mailbox, Phone Booth & Tour Bus ..................................................................................... Denise's French Restaurant ..................................................................................... Contiki Basement & Royal National Hotel where our hair dryer did not like the EU outlets

18: Amsterdam, Netherlands "Venice of the North" | Canal Cruise

19: We took the ferry from London to Amsterdam. After our canal ride we had an interesting night out in the city! The next day we went to the Anne Frank Museum and wondered around the city trying different foods and observing the culture.

21: Chocolate Covered Waffles, Bug-eyed Glasses, Red-Light District & a Man dressed in Women's Clothes - Welcome to Amsterdam!

24: St. Goar, Germany Home of the World's Largest Free hanging Handcarved Cuckoo-Clock | Rhine River Valley

25: In St. Goar we visited the Beerstein Center, makers of the World's Largest Stein, snapped a pic with the Steiff Bear, and observed the World's largest outdoor free hanging cuckoo-clock. What a beautiful, quaint little town!

27: We went to a wine tasting in a 1600s wine cellar. | We then went and had drinks at the hotel bar with our new friends.

28: Munich, Germany Home of Oktoberfest | Our next stop was Munich where we visited the BMW museum and saw the Glockenspiel at Marienplatz.

29: BMW World | Haus International - with the flooding bathroom

30: That night we ate dinner at the Münchner Haupt (Munich Beer Hall) and enjoyed German dancing and a liter of beer.

31: Konig Ludwig Dunkel beer | German Dancing, Music & Food. "PROST!"

32: Austrian Tyrol

33: We went whitewater rafting down the Inn River through the breath-taking Austrian Alps. Sue took an unexpected swim in the frigid waters.

34: We stayed that night in Hopfgarten another little quaint town. They had beautiful houses surrounded by great scenery. Some of the group went on a bike ride, a few of us went walking through the town while the rest went paragliding.

35: Hopfgarten, Austria | Beautiful Scenery & Buildings

36: Venice, Italy "The Sinking City" | We walked around St. Mark's Square & saw all the unique Venice Architecture.

37: We took a gondola ride through the canals.

38: We then went for some authentic Italian cuisine where we all order a dish and shared the yummy food! | Pizza, Pasta & Wine

39: Yummy Italian Gelato | Oh, Henry! | Princesses Sue & Steph | Breaking the Rule: No Lying Down in the Square

40: Lucerne, | "To the Loyalty and Bravery of the Swiss" - Commemorates the Swiss Guards who were massacred in the French Revolution.

41: We stopped and saw the Lyon monument before heading to Harry's watch shop after crossing the Chapel Bridge built to protect the city against attacks

43: Jungfrau, Switzerland | Fun Times in Jungfrau

45: Sue & I hiked the falls & saw some gorgeous views!

46: Paris, France | Upon arriving in Paris we were treated to champagne & escargot. Not many people enjoyed it, but Sue & I did. Then next day we hit the ground running...

49: We spent our last day in Paris walking around the city. We shopped 'til we dropped and saw all the tourist sites.

55: For our last night in Paris we had a Farewell Dinner at a great Parisian restaurant. It was also Justina's Birthday, so we celebrated with her! Then instead of the Cabaret show, Sue & I decided to go see the Eiffel Tower at night. It was Amazing, especially when it sparkled!! Then we got lost in Paris trying to return to the Contiki site. The cabs were all occupied and the trains had stopped running. Three hours later and we finally made it back...A Night to Remember!
