Made our flight without any hitches this time......which was A-OK with us! Coffee, no kids and good company, what more can you ask for?
What more can we say? This is the life....aaahhhhh. | st | First Class all the way, baby!!
Welcome to Vancouver! Two first-timers (Adele & Cheryl) and two seasoned cruisers (Giselle & Laurie) - giddy as school girls as we neared our cruising destination. Remember the "mean girls"? All we could ask ourselves was, "Who in the world would have the audacity to butt in line with the elderly and handicapped to get on the ship first?". The answer was found later when we witnessed these same girls dancing on the table top in the fancy dining room. Classy!
 Checking in!
After an hour waiting in Vancouver's port terminal (the ship was late to clear Customs), we finally boarded the "MS Zaandam" of the Holland America Cruise Line.
Although Vancouver was forecast to be very windy with rain Thursday night, we lucked out as the weather held up very nicely. | Vancouver | "To get the full value of joy you must have someone to divide it with." ~~- Mark Twain
Our Staterooms | Yes, we did request twin beds, not a king!! We quickly had them correct the problem (not that we aren't close.....just not that close). The rooms were very nice, lots of space and nicely furnished.
Cozy Shipmates on Main Deck 2: Cheryl & Laurie: Rm. K 2601 Adele & Giselle: Rm. K 2597
Checkin' out The Spa . . .those heated blue chairs were heavenly! | Poor Adele, she almost suffocated in the "infrared bed", while the rest of us couldn't stop laughing!
 Around the ship. . .
Our first night, Thursday, dining in the Rotterdam. The five-course dinners were fabulous, and of course, the pictures of the desserts say everything!
"Pleasure is the business of friendship."
Shopping day in Seattle! | Friday morning we woke up to breakfast via room service, then continued on to rent a car and shop at the Outlets in Seattle. We ate at P.F. Changs for some modern Chinese food (yum), and lucked out with some warm 25 degree weather during the peak of the day. A few good finds there.
Much needed drinks! | Made it back to the ship just in the nick of time (thanks to our wicked Canadian taxi-driver, Feetz...."Drive this taxi like you've never driven it before, Feetz!!!"). The ship left Seattle's port shortly afterwards (we believe we were the last ones to re-board). This kind of stress can lead to kissing ship poles, huddling into the fetal position, and drinking. Note to selves for future: It is nearly impossible to a) find, or get to, a gas station, nor b) catch a taxi in downtown Seattle during rush hour. | Giselle's special quote to make it all better: "When everything goes without a hitch, where's the challenge, the opportunity to find out what you're made of." ~Shania Twain
Cruising back from Seattle, we caught a glimpse of the mountain shoreline...majestic and breathtaking!
Dining in the Rotterdam Friday night.
"Keep a green tree in your heart and perhaps a singing bird will come." ~Chinese proverb
Words cannot describe the beauty at The Butchart Gardens, and so these pics really just speak for themselves. We were blessed to be able to witness the spring season with all the tulips in bloom (apparently each bulb planted and later dug up for replanting by hand every year).
"Friendship is a flower that blooms through all life's seasons."
After touring the Gardens, we went back to the ship for "High Tea" as our late lunch - delish! Then we wandered around downtown Victoria and saw the highlights.
Our last night made special at the "exclusive" restaurant on board .
The Pinnacle Grille | of the best food EVER...
Our last night, in elegant evening gowns. | Fabulous
 "Beauty seen is never lost."
Oh la la!!! Look out for Hot-Looking Ladies!
Next Time!! | Farewell, until | A funny memory - that shot of the waiter in the blue.....well, we didn't take that.....he did... and not on purpose!!! haha We had a good giggle about that one! P.S. The name of our maitre-d' who took very good care of us during our cruise was Johnny. We'll miss you!!
