Oahu - Circle Island Tour | Ke'ane Peninsula

We were busy taking pics and not paying attention to a big storm coming in...so we tried to seek shelter in our jeep but the top was off..consequently we got soaked!

Black Sand beach..rocky sand and way too many warning signs about dangerous undertow and man of wars..really made me want to swim..this was our last stop on the R2H | We stopped and ate lunch and ran into a couple we previously saw at one of the waterfalls. We also enjoyed watching the locals jump off the rock in what they refer to as their playground!

This was the start of The Beyond part of our trip...we were so unsuspecting of what was to come...next stop: Waimoku Falls and the Seven Sacred Pools at Haleakala National Park

Banyan tree | Our two mile hike to the top

Took us one hour to climb up.. Beautiful bamboo forest, and very peaceful | After using rocks to jump across two different streams we finally made it

Waimoku Falls 650 feet in elevation Drops 400 feet down a sheer lava rock wall into a boulder-strewn pool | A great climb...one of the most satisfying hikes we have ever been on...now back down the mountain and time to take a dip into the Seven Sacred Pools or the O'heo Gulch

I have to admit...it was refreshing

 O'heo Gulch | Coffee | Taro Fields

And beyond.... We made it through a long adventurous day and spirits were high when we left the Falls at 6:30pm. We knew it was going to get dark soon so we wanted to try to make it through the 5 miles of unpaved roads that everyone was warning us about before dark. That was an understatement. After driving over 15 miles of the roughest terrain we have ever encountered, in the dark, with 3000 foot cliffs to the left and a volcano on our right we were ecstatic to see city lights in the distance ahead....it took us 3 hours to drive 70 miles...a day we will never forget.!
