S: Hawaii Spring Break 2013
FC: PARADISE | Spring Break 2013
Spring Break 2013 | I can't believe it...it is finally time to go!! After months of planning, crossing the days off the calendar and lots of "I can't wait to go", it is finally time to board the plane! We are ready to leave the grey and rain behind...sunshine here we come! | Originally we were all on separate flights, but at the last minute Georgia was moved to our flight (Yeah!) Now we just need the Kirksey ladies so our vacation can begin. | April 4th
We all made it! | ALOHA! We all finally made it to Hawaii! After Georgia, Kierra and I arrived we picked up the van and grabbed a quick bite to eat before Chris & Kylie came in. Before we knew it, the Kirksey ladies had landed and we were ready for our Adventure in Paradise. We made a quick stop by Costco to pick up some must haves and then we were off to Kihei. As we were driving to the condo we talked about where we were going to eat and cook at the condo. It was during that conversation that Kylie mentioned we were going to have "na" one day. We all said "na?" Kylie was like yes, it was in the trip book...all you heard was laughter then...what she was referring to was N/A (not applicable Kylie) for the days we weren't eating in Hawaii. Oh Kylie...thank you for one of the best laughs of the trip!
In less than 10 minutes from when we arrived the girls were in their bathing suits and ready to see the beach. They didn't want to waste a single second of their vacation. It was so wonderful to see the sun and feel the warmth! Aloha!
In the girls first (of many) trips to the beach at the Condo they splashed a little and played in the sand. It was fun to see the pictures the girls took themselves as the sun was setting. In less than an hour we can already tell...this is going to be an amazing vacation!
After a few cartwheels down the beach the girls walked out on a sand jetty to take a few selfies :)
 April 5th
Without a doubt surfing ended up being the girls favorite part of the trip. They were so excited to go surfing before we even got to Hawaii, and it was everything they were hoping for and so so much more!!
They all stood on their first try...but ran into a little trouble staying up. | Georgia | Kylie | Kierra
Again - all up on their second try, but unfortunately right back down as well. However the girls didn't hesitate to keep trying...they all went for lucky number 3. | They were fearless! | Quick break | Graceful
Georgia | G did a great job surfing and was quickly up and staying up. In fact she was so good she actually surfed backwards...OMG! Looking good Georgia!
Kylie | Kylie won the award for the longest ride of the day! You gotta love her smile...way to go Kylie!!!
Kierra | It took Kierra a little longer to get the hang of it, but once she got going there was no stopping her. Way to go Lu, you did great!
Some of my favorite surfing pictures were when the girls had a chance to surf together on the same wave. It was fun and cool to watch them. I think that they would have loved surfing even if they had been doing it all by themselves, but having a couple of your best friends with you made it just that much better. What a wonderful way to spend a sunny Hawaiian day!
After spending the morning surfing and the afternoon at the beach we went to Lahina and enjoyed some Cheeseburgers in Paradise with the ocean in the background. Yummy food, refreshing drinks, perfect atmosphere with great friends...the definition of Paradise! I never wanted to leave!
The girls couldn't wait to get some Henna while we were on Break. They all got the same design and Georgia almost made it the whole night with messing it up...almost :)
April 6th | On our way to snorkeling we went a little too far and found this super cool lava rock. The lava rock was such a sharp contrast to the green trees and blue water surrounding it. It was very windy, but it was awesome to walk around and look at it. I like that even in such an amazing location the girls still had their phones with them (to be honest they were using them to take a photo). This was a great "wrong turn."
After spending the day exploring and snorkeling the girls went down to the beach to enjoy the sunshine and jump around. They laughed, wrote in the sand and ended a fantastic day with a beautiful sunset. Does it get any better than this??
Sunrise | Sunset | We started the day with a gorgeous sunrise and ended it with a breathtaking sunset. How did we get so lucky? What we weren't able to capture in the pictures of the day where some of the unbelievable conversations that occurred in the van. Whether it was listening to the radio and Chris saying "is this Mackelmore" and Georgia saying "ya Bra!" or it was Kierra's insight when we saw an Alaska license plate and said "they must have driven their car here by driving through Canada!" What??? Oh lord they are truly embracing the laid back Hawaiian way! :)
Georgia is on Kylie shoulders and for some reason they think it is a good idea to try and have Kierra lift them both out of the water on her shoulders...what where they thinking? I guess anything is possible in the pool :)
April 7th | It's our lazy pool day and we are taking full advantage of it. Tanning, swimming, tanning and swimming sounds like a perfect day to us. Love these girls!
In addition to playing in the pool the girls walked the beach, walked to get shaved ice and that night we BBQ'd and enjoyed a fun game of Phase 10. We ended up playing several games of Phase 10 during our trip, but didn't finish one. We did manage to finish the last of the licorice though and learned that in order to "keep the game going, skip Georgia" (Love you G!) Also per Kylie "if you are not cheating you are not trying". Seriously, where do they come up with these things?
Too bad there wasn't anything cool for the girls to look at other than their phones that night...really????
April 8th | Nope, you aren't seeing double. The girls loved surfing so much they signed up for a second lesson and paid with their own money this time. They specifically asked for Dylan again and had just as much fun this time as they did the first time. I took mostly videos during this lesson (so less to put in the book) but needless to say, the girls did amazing and had a fantastic time! They can't wait until they can do it again! I love their enthusiasm!
Thank you ladies for not just a great picture, but a wonderful time. Pictures at the Banyan tree are the one thing I really wanted...thank you for making it happen! I loved the laughs, the smiles, but mostly I loved you guys! xoxo
We all had a great night out at the luau. We enjoyed some pre-luau pictures, a tasty meal and then a beautiful show. The girls also learned that under the waiters "skirts" they are required to wear underwear. Thank you for asking that question girls...oh my!!
Excited? Maybe? Kinda? Sorta? What did we get signed up for?? Just be sure those buckles are tight :)
 April 9th
Kierra was the most excited by far, but everyone was open to trying it. After a quick lesson and a walk across a short bridge we were ready to fly through the trees. Seriously, who picked the 9 zipline course?
What a great time! Starfish, cannonball...all words that have new meanings for us. I love all these girls...yep, you too Chris :)
This picture does a great job capturing our vacation. It has been full of adventure with lots of beautiful sights. Each day was filled with smiles, crazy faces and so much sunshine that sunglasses were a must. We made sure to enjoy each day whether it was flying through the trees, swimming with the fish, hanging by the pool or doing none of the above. I don't know what could have made our time together more perfect! xoxoxo
After zip linning we drove into town to "enjoy" some organic pizza and drive along the Coast. We stopped along the way and was able to watch some windsurfing and regular surfing...they were really good. After our little detour we drove towards Hana, stopped along the way and found a fun place to go for a little walk and hopefully find a waterfall along the way. It was fun to explore the island in a different way. After walking around for a little we "ran into" (literally) a little something as we went to leave (oops!). Good thing I bought the insurance for the van...it's apparently better to be lucky than a good driver sometimes :)
April 10th | It was great that we were able to rent paddleboards right at our Condo. The girls were pretty excited to do it....unfortunately it didn't really live up to all their expectations. Georgia loved it, Chris andKylie liked it and Kierra wasn't a fan. Maybe it wasn't the most favorite parts of the trip, but I always like it when you try new things...you just never know until you try!
We all had a great time playing in the ocean. The waves were pretty big and it was fun to float (drown) in them! It was the perfect way to spend our last full day on the Island.
I will admit the phone picture was "staged", but it does accurately reflect how frequently they were checking them...it felt like they were connected to them! At least they left them on the beach when they road the waves:)
It was fun to watch the "locals" surfing the waves off the beach while we were enjoying the sun. They would run off the beach into the surf to "catch a wave"
I can't believe the sun is already setting on our amazing Hawaiian vacation. This week we enjoyed the sun (everyday!), learned to surf (twice) went paddleboarding, hung out at the beach and went ziplinning through the trees. We also squeezed in snorkeling, walking through lava, a Luau, shopping, one of the largest Banyan trees and watched some beautiful sunsets! And that doesn't include the waterfall, bamboo forest, Hershey Chocolate, tattoos and minor car accident (oops!) We enjoyed Cheeseburgers in Paradise, BBQ, yummy salads, ice cream/yogurt, a bag of grapefruits, a huge tub of licorice, a giant log of cookie dough and 5lbs of gummy bears just to name a few things. We played multiple games of Phase Ten but didn't finish one, though we all know who won! We emptied at least five bottles of sunscreen, used all the lotion we had and by the end of our trip we all managed to get a tan. We had lots of FaceTime, both in person and on our phones, sent 100s of SnapChats, tons of texts, took 1000s of pictures and made a couple new friends. These pictures capture just some of the special memories the five of us shared during our Tropical Adventure. I loved every minute of it and love each and every one of you! I can't wait until our next adventure together begins. Mahalo!
