FC: Hong Kong/China Merchandising Study Abroad 2011 By: Sarah Rasor

Our study abroad experience started with walking the streets of Hong Kong to become familiar with our surroundings. We soon concluded that much of the area included shopping, dining, and more shopping.

We soon noticed that Hong Kong has beautiful scenery from their skylines, bay, and mountain views. The above picture was taken from our hotel room window at the Excelsior.

The picture to the right is a skyline view from above the city. The buildings consume the city but still make it an amazing place. | Hong has a feel larger than New York City due to its abundance of people.

10,000 Buddhas - A temple consisting of 10,000 Golden Statues of Buddha that sat on top of a mountain overlooking Hong Kong. | Each Buddha was said to have reached Nirvana which is beyond the after life. The history and traditions that come from this culture were very intriguing.

These types of buildings were apparent in the 'suburban' part of Hong Kong. This allowed us to see a historical version of the city.

Big Buddha was the largest Buddha statue within the world. It also has a religious purpose for the people of Hong Kong. | CHINA!

This is the front of Big Buddha. This was a very popular tourist destination that required a walking up numerous steps to see Big Buddha.

Jiangmen China - A heartwarming welcome from Jiangment Polytech students. We visited the school to learn more about their education and college life.

One of the students is participating in testing fabric durability. | Students are feeling the quality of leather that Fossil provides.

A fabric production factory gave us a tour of their production process. | Visiting Garment Factories in China as well as the Fossil Headquarters in Hong Kong.

The Great Wall is so large that it can be seen from outer space! | The Great Wall of China in Beijing, China!

These pictures were taken in Bejing China at the Olympic Venues (Bird's Nest), Tiannanmen Square, Temple of Heavan, and Summer Palace

We were able to visit and tour many markets to 'haggle' and bring back presents and souvenirs from our trip.

The picture to the right is when we were able to visit a village in Beijing. The villagers taught us how to make Dim Sum from scratch! | The children of China were so uplifting and very courteous. We could see a different kind of tradition and respect the children had for their elders compared to the U.S.

While in Beijing, China we attended a Chinese Acrobatic Show that was amazing. There were tumblers, acrobatics, and dangerous stunts.

 THE END!
